We've had Oscar for 3 weeks now, he's approx 7-8 months old. He has settled in brilliantly here, now eating properly, he's fully house trained and can do sit, give both paws, lie down and high five He is so much more laid back than our 2 year old collie X Penny, I was a bit worried at first but it seems to be his personality.

Anyway the point of this post was to ask about a situation with Oscar and PILs neighbours dog who they look after quite frequently. He's a 2 year old black lab, the first time they met he was growling and snarling straight away and fil shut him away. He plays with Penny ok, but Penny is much more feisty. I don't think he actually wants to hurt Oscar but Oscar is terrified and lies on his back at our feet whenever the other dog is around. It's not a huge deal, Oscar can stay inside with me if we pop round and the other dog is there but I wasn't sure if that was the best way of dealing with the situation.
