LARGE dog bed

Susiewho · 24/02/2011 21:26

Does anyone know where I can buy a large (1m minimum width) preferably plastic dog bed from, please? It's surprisingly difficult to find one to accommodate my dog. She's a foxhound, so not huge, but too big for most beds.

I'm mad on cleanliness, so would like a plastic bed, rather than having to hoover one all of the time.

Thank you! :)

i saw large plastic dog beds in the sale in focus today!

Susiewho · 24/02/2011 21:33

Thanks, chick. I had a look at their website, but they only go up to about 80cm, I think.

thats a shame. they looked very large to me but then i have small dogs!

Vallhala · 24/02/2011 21:46

There are 36 inch width hard plastic beds in Wilkos for, I think, £12.95, with another 3 or 4 pounds for delivery. They're the cheapest I've found and that size more than comfortably accomodates my Labrador. Even my HUGE black & tan GSD fits in it albeit not as well. :o

I'm about to buy another couple of plastic baskets as my white GSD chews all bedding as soon as my back is turned so I have to stick with old quilts and blankets which I can then throw out when they've been shredded. I can't have any of the lovely soft fleecy beds for any of my three as a result, the bugger. The Wilko 36 inch size is good for the shredding machine my white German Shepherd but I need to find a larger one for the big lump.

So, if anyone can identify for me the best price on a plastic bed in excess of 36 inches in width I'd be very grateful. :)

i am going back to focus tomorrow so will check width of beds just in case their website doesnt have them listed

(on a slightly different note my focus has 33% off everything in the shop - not sure if this is nationwide or shop closing down? will ask tomorrow)

they has the soft furry dog beds reduced to £5. will check how much plastic ones are

chickchickchicken · 24/02/2011 21:53

*meant in case website doesnt have full range listed

Susiewho · 24/02/2011 22:05

Ah, thanks for that tip, Vallhala. I love Wilkinsons. It seems to be there for a lot of my needs! It's free to pick up in store, I think.

chickchickchicken, that would be brilliant. Thank you. Please don't go to any trouble though.

Gotta go - DD's woken up. Aaagh!

Thanks again, both! :)

susie - its no trouble, going there anyway. the only problem may be that i might forget!

chickchickchicken · 25/02/2011 22:17

remembered to check beds when in focus today and largest is 31 inches and is £19.49. even after sale discount wilkinson is still a lot cheaper

Susiewho · 26/02/2011 09:25

Ah, thanks for that chick. I think I've found an eBay bargain, so I'll go for that.

By poor old dog has just been diagnosed with arthritis (we thought she may have sustained a fracture as she was suddenly limping), so it looks as though she'll be staying more and more in her bed in future - lots of rest is what the vet said. :(

Thanks again for the help.

I gave up trying to find one for my lab. He has HD and sleeps stretched out fully so would need something humungous.

I use a king size duvet folded in half and I have a couple of old covers that just get popped in the washing machine.
