Dog wee and grass

We have a fairly small garden and our dog is nuking our tiny lawn. He's OK with poo as he always does it in the same place, bless him but likes to have a good old spray all over the place when he has a wee.

Anything we can do to stop the scorched grass look? DH read you can put tomato juice in his food but that doesn't sound very healthy or appetising?

I buy our dog a role of turf from B&Q only about a pound split in two and it made picking up poo easy just roll and bag and kept my lawn nice.

That's an idea Crawling, will suggest that to DH as he's sick of looking at the burns on the lawn. Ta.

If you do decide to do it you will need to train the dog to go on the roll of grass. But it is easier than intial training just give a big reward when the dog uses the roll of grass. I think it took about a week with ours.

I think that could work, as he always does a poo in the same place (little gravelly area under a tree - think he thinks it's like dog litter!)

How did you get him to poo in one place? My puppy goes all over the lawn so I have to walk around looking for it to pick it up

I have a double pronged attack to our nuked/mud bath lawn.

Dog rocks from PAH in the dog's water have somehow magically reduced the potency of the wee.

Training dog to wee in one spot on the small gravel path at the side of our lawn. This has taken concerted effort of going out with her, rain and shine and treating her for piddling on the gravel. Alleluia! This week when she was outside gnawing a bone on the lawn she got up, pottered over to the gravel, had a wee and then came back to lie on the grass.

May do away with the dog rocks now.

I have been previously recommended dog rocks so will assume they are ok for the canine system if you are ok with using them, Slubber. That said, I don't care where my 9 year old goes; so long as it's outside at the mo

MotherJack the only problem I had with the rocks was that my dog refused to keep them in her water bowl, which is ideally where they should reside 24/7. She obviously has water bowl aesthetic issues and would remove the rocks and helpfully put them in the garden in the gravel, making dog rock and gravel path rock identification complicated.

The rocks now live in a jug of water that I use to top up her water bowl with.
