Dog1 aka The Devil Dog:
Will only sit with you if you stay perfectly still. He will only allow the cat or dog2 to sit near him if they do not move or make any noise at all. If anyone moves he growls and goes to sit on the cold floor on his own. Surely it is better to just cope with a little fidgeting?
If a dog comes into his house he sniffs, walks away and spends the rest of the visit ignoring and avoiding the new dog. When he meets a new dog in the park it is the most exciting thing in the world ever and requires much barking, pulling and jumping, ignoring them is not an option.
Dog2 aka cat dog:
Cat dog is by far the strangest dog I have ever owned. She tries to purr. She rubs herself on you the way a cat would. She insists on sleeping cradled in your arms like a newborn would with her legs sticking up in the air. She will not play tug or fetch, she cuddles her teddy bear as opposed to pulling him limb from limb. And most recently she has developed a shoe fetish. In particular dd1's shoes. She will get one shoe and place it neatly in her bed next to her food dish. She will then go for the matching shoe and place it neatly next to the first shoe in her bed. She does not eat or chew the shoes, they are always next to each other in a neat pair in her bed. She particularly likes dd1's red shoes. Boots, slippers and adult shoes are of no interest to her. The cat is her best friend.
