Terrier Neutering Quiery

Im booked in to get my 7month pup(Male)in to be neutered which i always planned on doing for his health and have no interest in breeding from him. I was just wondering if anyone knew or found that theyre dogs behaviour became less aggressive after neutering??
Hes a great dog most of the time he's very responsive to command, friendly and shows no aggression to other dogs. But he has become aggressive without warning with me. One minute he's sniffing around or busy with a toy the next minute he's lunging, snarling and repeadedly biting any body part he can get at.Ive had a few near misses with my face when hes come at me quickly. The only way to get him out of the rage is to restrain him and sooth him or remove him from the room. Once removed from the room for a few minutes he goes back to being a friendly little pup. I dont hit or smack him as he is a terrier and they dont respond well to this type of disciplin.
Im unsure of how i can train him further as this is unprovoked and i cant think of any other reason other than he's hormonal.
Ive also read about Rage disorder in dogs (a neurological problem) and it sounds just like him but this condition is very rare and not common of his breed. Im hoping neutering and further training will help. I keep him out of the way of my dd and i really dont want to give up on him but our safety will have to come first if i cant improve this behaviour.
