dog ate something really disgusting - help with smell!

Caught the dog in bushes on way out of park eating what i think was Fox poo or dog poo but there was a very strong smell assuming fox........

He stinks!! Have cleaned face with shampoo anything else to get smell out - can't go near him!!!

Ketchup

Rub a generous dollop well into affected fur then rinse and shampoo (baby shampoo will do if you've nothing else).

Don't know why it works but it does - something to do with vinegar, possibly but ketchup works better than just vinegar.

Sympathies though, our lab went through a 'rolling in fox poo' phase and the smell is indescribably awful.

Ok luckily the kids love it so have a huge bottle! He is cream so may end up with pink dog but anything is better that the smell!! Thank you off to rub him with Heinz now! he will probably like it!

He is a little discoloured round the mouth!! And smells of ketchup thinks he needs another scrub with shampoo! But no longer fox smell so thank you!! Staying on lead today in case he goes right back to the spot!!!!

Ketchup works as it neutralises the smell of fox poo/skunk. I think a tin of tomatoes works just as well, but is obviously more concentrated than ketchup.

I used to think fox poo was the worst - until my two went through a phase of finding and eating and/or rolling in human poo, kindly left by joggers on our walking route Now that is a tricky stench to get rid of!

When ours was a pup she used to go through the nappy bin and dig out the pooey ones and lick off any poo that was left .

Thank goodness they were reusables, I'm not sure the gel stuff inside disposables would have done her much good [bhmm].

She also had a thing for, ahem, feminine hygiene products out of the bin.

I use a mooncup now [bgrin].

thank god it is not just my dog - they are disgusting aren't they!! Ketchup smell almost gone - kids not letting him kiss them again yet though!!!!
