Like any dog, if brought up in the correct manner with children then, yes, they can be good with them.

However, Spanish Water Dogs are a very active working breed. In the UK, they are classed as 'gundogs' but in their native Spain they are used as a much more multi-purpose working dog. They therefore need a very active lifestyle and are best if given a 'job' to do, such as agility or obedience.

Also, they need a lot of very careful socialisation as a youngster as they have a natural tendency to be wary of strangers.

Contact the breed club (as linked above) or I can give you the contact details for someone in the breed if you like (the person is one of those who introduced the breed to the UK so is extremely knowledgable).
