Send your questions to The Dog Whisperer, Cesar Millan

Great news for all those in The Dog House. We've been given the opportunity to send our canine questions to none other than the Dog Whisperer himself, Cesar Millan. Cesar is over in the UK to promote his forthcoming new series of the UK version of 'The Dog Whisperer' which will be aired in UK on Nat Geo Wild in early February 2011. We'll be filming some members of Mumsnet HQ (plus dogs) putting your questions to Cesar in January and we will be airing the film across the site at the end of January, to coincide with the launch of his new series. To stand a chance of getting your question to Cesar, post them to this thread before end of Tuesday 21st December 2010.

sorry there should have been apostrophes before no and anyway.

Is there ever follow ups to the dogs that CM has rehabilitated?

Yes, I know at the end of the programme there are people saying "hi, we are doing well on XYZ and getting there with ABC" but how about years later or even 6 months later?

Do the dogs still get in the car without freaking out? Do they walk past every other dog without trying to eat them? I would very much like to know how each and every dog is NOW, years after.

How do we find out?

VallhalaLalalalalalalalaaaaaa · 21/12/2010 21:55

Is there a head against brick wall emoticon?

RubyBuckleberry · 21/12/2010 21:56

Er yes I do understand the difference betweem a quick-fix bla di bla. Are you telling me there is solid research that cesar millan's methods don't have long term lasting effects. As in the actual dogs he sees. Surely, if it doesn't work, it would be out by now. His cover would be blown. Everyone would be saying 'my dog was a nutter before cesar and a nutter after - his methods didn't work.' But they're not. He really genuinely helps people and dogs.

RubyBuckleberry · 21/12/2010 21:58

'ruby i don't know why you are bleating on about all this good work he does and then follow up by saying you really no nothing about dogs anyway.'

when i say i know nothing, i mean i have no formal qualifications and haven't done much in depth research so have nothing evidence based. but yes i have seen the odd dog around Hmm and lots of what he says makes sense to me.

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 21/12/2010 22:00

no, he helps his own bank balance.

RubyBuckleberry · 21/12/2010 22:01

so he doesn't help anyone and knows nothing about dogs vallhala? nothing he does is impressive. i don't quite know what you mean about the brick wall.

stickersarecurrency · 21/12/2010 22:01

Ruby, evidence please.

RubyBuckleberry · 21/12/2010 22:02

he didn't start off like that iloveit. didn't he work in a dog washing shop? he just loved dogs from the start. grew up with them...

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 21/12/2010 22:02

it makes sense because the way it is edited makes it look like it works.

are you seriously saying that if someone put a prong collar on you to stop you wandering off from them you would be forever happy and thankful to that person? or would it leave you fearful of anything touching your neck, so fearful taht you may lash out at anhyone who tries?

DooinMeCleanin · 21/12/2010 22:04

Ruby are you ceaser millan? You seem hell bent on convincing us all what a great trainer he is with very little research to back that up, other than what cm himself tells you via his marketing team. You do this despite admitting that you do not have the knowledge or experience of many of the posters here.

RubyBuckleberry · 21/12/2010 22:05

stickers, i told you i don't have anything that would constitute evidence in the formal sense of the word. i simply am talking about what i have seen with the dogs he has worked with. and i am wondering if people have any evidence that his methods don't work. on the dogs he works with i mean.

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 21/12/2010 22:05

it makes sense because the way it is edited makes it look like it works.

VallhalaLalalalalalalalaaaaaa · 21/12/2010 22:05

Ruby, genuine question... have you actually seen the video I posted above, where Millan renders a dog submissive by raising him via his collar, restricting his breathing and then getting him on the ground, where the dog lies for some while, clearly not in a natural or happy state?

This description is, btw, the least sensationalist way I can describe events.

Second genuine question - do you approve of Millan's actions in that video?

stickersarecurrency · 21/12/2010 22:06

You've seen the odd dog around and watched a whole lot of tv. You have no background in dogs. Why do you think those of us who work with dogs don't want MN to get involved? What agenda could we possibly have?

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 21/12/2010 22:07

val has evidence. she deals with the evidence everyday, she rehabilitates teh evidence so they may once again function as normal happy dogs.

JaxTellersOldLady · 21/12/2010 22:07

so anyone? Can anyone with knowledge please answer the things that I have asked?

1 - his UK tour, what happened

2 - any feedback of the dogs NOW from years ago?

many thanks

RubyBuckleberry · 21/12/2010 22:08

i never said i liked the prong collars. i thought he didn't like them either. i just think he is great.

doomin lol i'm actually just defending myself against all the bile lol i just said i thought he was great and bam! i thought this was a free thread. seems its being policed by the anti cesar crew lol

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 21/12/2010 22:08

"i simply am talking about what i have seen with the dogs he has worked with."

why can you not accept that what you have seen is not the true representation of what has happened.?

RubyBuckleberry · 21/12/2010 22:09

and his hurricane katrina show was awesome. he was really into the dogs waking up together from the injections. and you could see they were kind of at home next to each other. it was very moving.

RubyBuckleberry · 21/12/2010 22:09

'why can you not accept that what you have seen is not the true representation of what has happened'

i'm sorry but it might be hammed up a little but it is not a total fix. that is a little paranoid don't you think??

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 21/12/2010 22:10

surely if you have watched his shows you have seen him using teh prong collars???

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 21/12/2010 22:12

ruby it is a total fix, if you can't see that then i really would be better off banging my head off a brick wall than trying to get any sense from you.

VallhalaLalalalalalalalaaaaaa · 21/12/2010 22:12

No, Ruby, this is a free thread which is populated by people, many of whom happen to have experience in dog welfare.

But I thought I'd made that clear already.

CM uses prong collars and electric collars. Fact.

catinthehat2 · 21/12/2010 22:14

"Surely, if it doesn't work, it would be out by now. His cover would be blown"

It is blown.

Even I know about it. I've never even had a dog.

But I knew the gist of what these ladies are saying in detail.

And these days we all know how telly works, don't we? So many 'reality' shows, so many clunking 'edits', haven't you learned how to spot them yet? Most 8 year olds can these days.

THere is broadcast time to fill and it needs showmen to fill it.
