right, my boys are on wainwrights.

i ordered yesterday and should be here by friday/monday.

just looked at what we have left and i have enough to last til friday.

IF it doesnt arrive in time, what can i get for the weekend from a small petshop which is similar (think local ones does burns, james well beloved, and a few other high end brands) or supermarket to get us through the weekend.

I don't use Wainwrights, so I haven't a clue what is in it. But JWB is a grain free kibble and my pup loved it. The Devil Dog would ratehr starve himself for 5 days than eat dry kibble with no meat.

Could you give them meat/tripe etc for the weekend? It would be cheaper than buyinga bag of kibble surely? Lamb mine and green tripe is always a hit here. Even for The Devil Dog aka the fussiest dog in the world.

Can you cook up some chicken and rice to tide you over. Will be bland enough to not upset their stomachs otherwise Burns or JW are probably your best bet. If you can get the new food asap mix it in with what you have left of the Wainwrights so it's not such a change for them and then do the same when you get your new bag of wainwrights and this should minimise the risk of loose stools.

atm, in town, we have a tiny two aisle sainsburys, no butchers, and m+s. not sure i can get tripe in those places.

i think my friend has a bag of JWB at hers as her huskys didnt get on with it. will ask at the school run, and pinch it off her if possible. am 38 weeks pregnant so not up to going into town really with the xmas rush.

there s a vets down the road as well, near the school, they sell science plan, so would that be a good one to mix with the last of the wainwrights for a few days?

fortunatly mine are lab-x breeds so eataanything and arent fussy.

Having spent a tedious amount of time at PAH reading dog food labels, I'd say JWB is closest to Wainwrights in terms of content (unless you're comparing turkey with salmon, obviously!). I'd try and get that one, mix it with what you have, and bulk out with additional rice/chicken if needs be. They won't starve!

Bella32 · 15/12/2010 15:25

JWB is my standard failsafe if I run out. Most dogs take to it very well.

FairyTaleOfNewYork · 15/12/2010 18:47

thank you. will go for JWB then :)

I give mine chicken breasts, rice and homemade veg stock when we run out of food. They think it's a treat!

FairyTaleOfNewYork · 16/12/2010 17:14

PAH order has been dispatched, so hopefully will be here tomorrow.

Cheap tinned fish - pilchards are great, mixed with boiled potato or rice, it's filling and should be easy to get hold of.
