My friend is rehoming a gorgeous Cane Corso. She is a proper couch potato, loves a walk, but happy to snuggle up on the sofa and sleep until she is needed.

Perfect with children, other dogs and is generally a bloody lovely dog. She is nearly 3, and loves to be loved.

She went to another home but they cannot keep her, the daughters house sale fell through and her parents cant have another dog at the moment with the one they already have, so although they love her, cant keep her.

rescue kennels are of course full to bursting and a foster home is like hens teeth. They will organise a kennel for her, but cant say where in the country and to be honest, this is not what my friend wants, nor is it what is best for the dog.

So... if anyone knows the breed, and is looking for a new dog and can give this lovely lady a forever home, please PM me.

DH and I have talked this over and there just isnt a feasible way that we can have her. I would take her in a heartbeat, really we would and if you 'know' me then you will know that we did consider this a few months ago.

verity, it sounds like you would give her a good home. To be honest she doesnt take up much space at all, (except on the sofa) she curls up into a ball in her bed, but lies with her head on DDs lap.

Most people say "Eh?" when you tell them the breed - they have never heard of them.

Want to see a picture????

where are you verity? I mean, are you in he UK?

She is about the size of a boxer, obviously larger head and fuller body, but not massive I dont think, but then I have GSDs so am used to big dogs!

She has a walk each morning with my 2 or just my big boy and sleeps for the rest of the day, I have to cajole her to go out for the loo.

Oooh I dont want to talk you into anything but if you think you would like to give her a forever home we can talk on PM about it. Take a while to have a good think about it first. Wink

Just added a couple of photos of her on her own and with my 2 in the snow. She is so fantastic.

We have had her out every single day, come rain, wind and err sunshine (HA!) Her socialisation is very much improved, her recall is fantastic and she no longer bounds up to EVERYONE and every dog, although she does say hello, but when called comes away promptly.

Can also distract her from other things on the walk, she loves a tennis ball and have been using that and praise as motivation for her. I love how she plays in the snow, she looks after the puppy, plays with her, but gently, she could crush her but is quite mindful of what she does and how.

Oh please, someone love her apart from us...

I know Verity, I would love for you to be able to see her out and about.

At the moment I could happily swap pupstar for her! (I dont really mean that, but puppy is driving me crazy)

The Cane is still homeless... still gorgeous, working on her every day, she gets better but still not keeping her.

Oh yes, letting her go will be hard, but she needs to find a home where she can be loved loved loved and get the 1/1 that she needs.

more pics on my profile.

Let me speak to her owner and see what we can do. Obviously a home check via rescue will need to be done. I will PM you when I know more.

Also have to speak to DH and see if he wouldnt mind her staying a bit longer. It has been fine walking etc while he has been here, but he goes back to work next week. Anyway, not your problem, will see what we can work out.

x

Well I still have the Cane, we took her over to a local farm who wanted another dog. They have a lab, acres of farmland (arable) and they seemed very interested. Upshot is they think she is too big. Hmm She isnt big for a Cane at all...

Anyway, between a few of us we are trying our hardest to get gorgeous girl a forever home. In the meantime the rescue want to come over this weekend to 'assess' her with a view to putting her in their holding kennels at Battersea until a foster home comes up. I am not happy AT ALL about this, and am going to speak to DH about hanging onto her for a bit longer.

There is another family locally who have contacted me with regards to rehoming her, they already have a mastiff and I am hopeful, but have learned quickly not to get hopes raised.

This is absolutely heart breaking as she is such a beautiful dog.

Valhalla and other FT fosterers I just dont know how you do it week after week, month after month. I have got too emotionally involved already. As has the rest of our family. It bloods sucks. Sad

Jax are you still looking for a home for her?

JaxTellersOldLady · 17/01/2011 16:56

hi Nessa

Today she went to live with a permanent foster family, who I suspect will keep her. Grin

They foster for a large breed rescue (dont want to name them) and are a lovely family. It was sad to see her go, but I know that they will look after her and they have children and 2 other dogs and have fostered Canes and the like before.

She is on the rescue website looking stunning and I am going to email some more pictures of her to the people who collected her today.

pleased for her Jax. it must of been hard for you to see her go.

JaxTellersOldLady · 18/01/2011 08:09

I was sad, but the family who came are lovely, they have already text me with an update and are going to send pics. They are very experienced and took to her straight away.

Aw that's great news Jax. What a lucky dog and well done you for providing her with a great home when she was in need. I'm sure she will never forget that.

JaxTellersOldLady · 18/01/2011 10:48

I have to say my children miss her, DH & I miss her and my dogs spent a while walking around looking for her (we seperated them about an hour before she went), quite sad to watch.

But I know she will be just fine in her new home.

I have managed to spend some time with the puppy this morning and last night, just the two of us doing some 'bonding' and training.

This is lovely news, I have been lurking in the background willing someone to come and give her a home. Well done.

JaxTellersOldLady · 19/01/2011 13:01

aw thanks mini. I really really didnt want her to go into Kennels. Not sure I would want to do it (foster) on a regular basis though. Sad
