My lovely wee westie (6 months) has started barking at every person we pass when out walking. She is very well socialised, gets long country walk near deer etc without concern, but as soon as we pass a person on the pavement she goes mad. I have been telling her to sit and keeping her close until the person passes but that won't prevent it. what can I do? I don't want her to be the neighbourhood yap!Blush

my pup is almost 6 months old and is very friendly so wants to jump up at everyone that comes anywhere near us.

I have been training him by holding a treat next to my face while saying 'watch me' in a higher pitch voice. I want his attention eniterly on me so I keep my hand by my face. He automatically sits when I hold the treat up.

He will have a quick glance at the passerby but then looks at me again. When he does look back at me, I will give him the treat. It has to be something extra tasty though, like chicken or cheese.

Hope you can encourage your dog that its not good to bark at every person you pass. Its so hard training pups, wish they could come pre-programmed!
