Frontline appears to have stopped working and BigDog is very very itchy. I haven't actually seen any fleas recently though.

Anyway - he's getting rather bald underneath and nibbling and scratching.

So - vet? or anything else to treat him with?

Vet, could be an allergy. Mne is allergic to housedust. Hope you have insurance as the tests are expensive.

his fur has also gone pink Confused

Again to the vet - the pinkness is dry saliva. There are many possible causes.

got appointment for him tomorrow. although there' no flea dirt (he's mostly white) i just picked off a massive mutant flea.

now i'm embarrased to take him with his pink fur and dreadlocks - will they think i should have taken him a week ago.? although he's only been scratching madly for the last day or so. should i bath him today? would that help the itch till tomorrow?

If he's desperately uncomfortable, a piriton might help in the very short term - how much does he weigh?

Also a bath in a tea tree oil based shampoo can be soothing. Don't pour the shampoo directly on, dilute it in a jug first then rinse really well.

he's a large collie so weighs as much as a small human i should think. i have loratadine. will try that and get DH to bath him later. my back has never recovered from doing him 2 years ago!
