John Lewis Xmas advert - poor, poor dog

I know there was a thread about the JL advert generally, but how do other 'dog people' feel about the ad? Specifically about the poor dog left out in the cold, at night, with inadequate shelter. It makes me really cross every time I see it, and I wonder if any idiots out there might think it's ok for them to keep their dog like that. PS, I know that some dogs are outdoor dogs, and I guess that's ok if they have always been and have a good shelter etc.
Anyway, I have complained to the ASA about it.

Interested to know what others think??

But think of that poor actor dog - that was his first job since he got his Equity card - it was such a big break. And now its on the cutting room floor.

The only other work around is 4th husky in a remake of Scott of the Antarctic. Hours in make up, then you get eaten in Scene 4.

According to this they are changing the ending.

bbc article

I have to admit, I've seen it, and the warm fuzzy feeling I had at the start totally vanished when I saw the ending.

The statement to Beverley of DogsWorld came after the BBC article, Skyline, and so it appears that JL decided that they had screwed up and had best remove the ad after all.

seeker - nice one. :o

Well done Vallhala and all you other Dog Centric Nutters. It is good to know that some people care enough to actually do something.
