Best Border Collie Book?

We have decided to get another border collie after Christmas and would very much like to involve DS(8) in its care and training. I would like to give him a book for Christmas re care and training. There seem to be sooo many books out there - far more than when we got our last BC puppy - that I am a bit bamboozled as to which would be the best. Any suggestions from collie savvy owners would be gratefully received!

I have Understanding the Border Collie by Carol Price. I bought it before I got a collie but she isn't really a typical collie I wouldn't have said.
I found the most valuable thing was taking her to sheepdog training, I learnt more about her in the first 2 or 3 lessons than I had in the previous 3 years! Grin
I love my collie, she has her faults but she loves doing a 'job'
My children were sporadic trainers, it was easier to train her myself and then let them think that they had done it when she did it for them. Cheating I know but they weren't consistent enough!

oh and one boast is that she got her 'gold' good citizen award a while back. I haven't done any more obedience with her as she found it a bit 'slow' and being in close proximity of other dogs a bit stressful.
I can't imagine my spaniel ever passing his gold!
Her pic is on my profile

I know it's not what you are after but as a BC owner i can recommend ob the Paradog for a young lad. It's the true story of a war dog - all ends well and he goes back to the farm at the end Grin. There's his photo on the back with the medal he got

Definitely the Carol Price one as suggested by fruitshootingrockets is a fab book, how suitable for an 8 year old depends on his reading skill. Good luck.

Thank you so much for your suggestions. I think I will get Rob the Paradog for DS and Carol Price for me.

fruitshootingrockets - My resident BC isn't typical either, but probably for different reasons than yours. He is absolutely gorgeous to look at, wonderful temperment but as thick as two short planks! Grin
