I'm doing the Silver KC award at the moment (Canine Good Citizen) at classes with our adorable third grey. Most of the class is going really well, as he is very mellow and laid back. However, like many pointies, he refuses point blank to "do" toys of any form. We've tried squeakies, Kongs, balls, furries, ropes, you name it. unfortunately one of the elements in the test is to show the dog playing with the owner - I can see us dismally failing on this. He is a complete love sponge and adores being tickled, stroked and groomed, and will deign to play with his best mate Jim the lurcher in the park - they run round in circles at high speed. Unfortunately my speed is not up to this and I can't really ask the examiner to put a lurcher in their pocket for me. Has anyone else done this test? And how strict is the playing bit? Any suggestions? Should I offer to recite "The wreck of the Hesperus" while grey reclines at my feet, occasionally waving a paw?
