Since I do not believe in rehoming your pets without bloody good reason, then I shall rehome myself.

All the barking, growling, chasing, sending things flying......

It will get better when the puppy can walk out and burn off some of her energy, yes? Scruff has already been for a morning walk but is being encouraged by the puppy. I can't crate them as I am going to work for a couple of hours soon, so they will be crated then.

Any ideas on how to stop them/encourage quieter play? Are they actually playing? No-one has been hurt and no hackles are raised so I think they are playing, but by god the growling is blood curdling

Ofgs, now she has eaten her collar (the puppy that is). God knows how she got it off. Still it was only a cheap training collar. It must've come off in all the rucus.

At least they are both sleeping now.

Oh hon. They'll be playing. Scruff is just teaching pup some very valuable dog socialisation lessons. Seriously.

Will they play tug with each other?

Scruff gets bored of tug with the pup at the moment. She does try to play with him, but he is seriously strong for a terrier, so he wins easily, gets bored and brings the tug rope to me instead.

They are in the yard playing atm, as I've just got back from work, so I've ket them out for some fresh air and a wee while I eat my dinner. They are at least being quiet now.

I think I'd have to stick them in the garden to let them wear themselves out. You could try lots of training to tire the pup out. Bones might keep them quiet for a bit too?

If it makes you feel any better, my friend came home to find that her puppy had chewed the collar off her older dog whilst she'd been out for a few hours.

I would restrict the time they have together. It is up to you when they play and when they sleep and when they eat etc. (not in a dominance way at all but just Mum knows best!) If they have had exercise and a meal and some training then they need to learn also to chill out.

I would separate them in different rooms and give them both a chew and praise them for calm behaviour.

Yes it will get better when you can exercise the puppy more hang on in there!

Hmm, I might try seperating them more often. They will chill out on a night when Dh and are sitting down. It's during the day that is the problem.

I was told to limit the time that the new pup and loofa spend together and when they do play together to make sure it is often at our instigation.
