Skin allergies

Rupert, my 1 year old Bulldog has had skin allergies for the last few months, he's had various long courses of anti biotics but they keep coming back.

He eats, and has always eaten Royal Canin, perhaps that's the problem. Anyone had any success with diet in clearing up allergies?

Yes- switched to Burns and my scurfy labradoodle stopped being so flaky! Definitely try changing diet.

Have you seen a dermatology specialist with him? - there is a lot that can be done to help cases like your dog, including dietary trials, allergy testing, medicated washes and various other therapies.

I think that having bloods done is the next step, he does have a medicated wash which seems to have kept a lid on it but flare ups are all too common.

Perhaps I'll find a dermatology specialist for him..........seeing as Petplan are charging me an absolute ransom in insurance!

Thanks x

We had a dalmatian and he had allergy tests done vis skin pricks on the side of his body. from that we found he was allergic mainly to grass and other things. But we were able to work out an immunisation plan for him that worked wonders. So a skin allergy test might be an option

I'm actually amazed at how many peoples dogs are allergic to grass, it seems to be very common.

I'll have to move to the seaside and walk him on the beach :)
