Why is Dill taking cat poo out of the litter tray to eat???

The tray is covered and tucked under the stairs in a corner.

My labrador does the same. Yuck isn't it. Have to race to get to the tray before the dog!

Bella32 · 03/10/2010 08:24

Cos it's yum Wink

Dogs evolved as natural scavengers. If they found a dead thing, they ate it. If that dead thing had poo in its innards, all the better Wink

SoupDragon · 03/10/2010 08:29

Yes, they are natural scavengers, so why doesn't he go and scavenge his bowl of breakfast which is sitting untouched in the kitchen?! Gah!

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 03/10/2010 08:31

now, I am delighted he took the dead mouse (gift from one of the cats) outside to eat.

Is he licking his lips yet when the cat starts scrabbling in the tray? Mine do...

SoupDragon · 03/10/2010 08:33

Oh don't... :o

actually, at this moment, i think he's supervising DD on the toilet where she's having her morning poo! which is far, far worse than ogling the utter tray :o

Alouiseg · 03/10/2010 08:34

Oh they love cat poo, Rupert runs over to my neighbours hedges to forage for cat shit. Despite being terrified of their cat!

Bella32 · 03/10/2010 08:35

Aw, Soupie - have I not told you how, in developing countries where wipes are not available, newborn babies are given a puppy?

You do the math, sweetie Grin

SoupDragon · 03/10/2010 08:42

Dear god, Dill is a bit of a chewer... Doesn't bear thinking about!

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 03/10/2010 08:43

(although he'd probably do a better job than DD does. I'd rather not have to explain that one to school and social services though.)

now, it's Doggy Bathtime. wish me luck...

Bella32 · 03/10/2010 08:45

Good luck, hon Grin

I peperami and one cheese string there's a wet, manic cocker spaniel bounding tearing through the hall, landing and kitchen.

I think i got off lightly!

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 03/10/2010 09:10

One peperami and one cheese string later...

Now my house smells of wet dog rather than rancid dog. until he noses through the otter tray again and smells of cat poo instead. He was having none of my attempts to blow dry him!

Threelittleducks · 03/10/2010 09:10

It's natural for dogs to do this - it's a thing they have built in which is meant to keep their living space clean (yuk yukyuk!!!)

This is why they also seek out mucky nappies, eat their own sick etc etc.....Grin

SoupDragon · 03/10/2010 09:11

If he wants a clean living space, I'd rather he did the hoovereing and dusting TBH :o
