how much do you pay your dog walker?

Sorry if this has been posted a million times before, but I have just increased my work hours and now need my little hound ( a Jack Russell) walked 4 days a week.
I'm balking at paying £40 a week as this is quite a lot off the wine food budget.
How much do you pay or charge?
I live near Kingston upon Thames Surrey.
I am also considering doggy day care as now out 8.30 til 5ish
TIA

£5 a walk. Midlands.

Curlylox · 30/09/2010 12:47

Between £7 - £12 Hertfordhsire

£3 for a short walk, £5 for a long one. Used to get 10% off for using her every weekday but am part time now.

tbh, the main reason I use her is in case the dog gets ill or hurts himself in the house (unlikely as he has to be coaxed off his bed to even go for a walk Confused) - I hate the idea of him being in pain all day.

£10 a day sounds pretty pricey to me but I guess that's Surrey for you!

£6 for half an hour walk. Cambridgeshire.

I am a dogwalker and charge roughly between £7 and £10 per hour, depending on the amount of hours booked per week, whether the dog is to be walked seperately from others or not, whether the owner has more than one dog and so on.

My prices are always negotiable and probably on the lower end of the scale for where I am, which is an affluent village in Cambridgeshire, but that's largely because I just love being with dogs and being my own boss.

£10 per walk Weybridge in Surrey.
It's not a per hour thing though as she can be out with the hound for ages or for 40mins.

I'm going to post my dog to the Midlands, or Cambs Grin

£10 per hour x twice a week, in Kent. Fully insured.

Ephiny · 03/10/2010 21:16

£10 per walk (east London), a walk is usually about an hour.

We looked into doggy daycare as well, and I was surprised how much cheaper it was per hour than walking (I was expecting it to be the same rate so several times as much in total) I think it was actually about £20 a day, so worth considering if you're out all day.

HarderToKidnap · 04/10/2010 00:52

I am also in Kingston and pay £10 an hour to Surrey Pet Angels. So I think that is sort of the going rate!

£7.50 to have the dog taken round the block at lunch time, per day. We're in the south west. She's lovely, loves dogs and the cheapest we could find. Dog was outside in a kennel over the summer, and I'm dreading it getting colder as we'll need to start up again as it is quite a chunk out of the weekly budget.

thanks all, a friend, now a very good friend, has volunteered to do one walk, so that brings it down a bit.
I'll have to bite the bullet, and don't want to consider rehoming as she such a sweet little dog.
