Scary thought, isn't it? All the la says is needed for a harmless dog who has done nothing wrong to be taken from his owners is to be a "Pit Bull type". And that Labrador breed standard also defines a the characteristics of a Pit Bull type. :(

There are GSD x JRT puppies at the DBARC Rescue centre at the mo. I look at their website every week and just wish I could rehome them all.

I think a few people have just looked at my main profile picture, which was until a moment ago of my white GSD. However, in amongst my pictures (and now my main one) is one of a Labrador puppy, with the breed standard written beside it. The standard is "Medium size. Short coat. Solid and muscular build. broad head. Thick nose. Powerful jaws".

All the same physical characteristics of a Pit Bull.

Characteristics which are looked with legal backing for when a perfectly harmless, innocent dog is seized under law for looking like a Pit Bull. A physical description which could cost that dog his life.

The dog in that picture is not my Labrador.

But unless Breed Specific Legislation is ended it could be YOUR dog condemned to death by the Dangerous Dogs Act for being a "Pit" "Bull" "Type".

That's all it takes... looking like the breed standard of a Labrador.

And that's the point I made a cods of putting over!

(But yes, I have to agree, my GSDs and Lab cross ARE lovely!). :o
