Gsd x has developed scabs and losing his hair on his back just above his tail, i've put cream on it, he has a appointment at the vet tomorrow for a pre-op luckily but i'm worried he might lose more hair its only started today...

Anyone have any ideas please.

It can be as simple as blocked anal glands which they can't reach so they nibble at that area instead. Try not to worry - important thing is to get it seen quickly before the nibbling becomes a habit, which you are doing. Keep us posted & good luck Wink

mange

SecretNutellaFix · 19/09/2010 19:44

Are there any fleas on him?

My BC has a flea allergy and used to rip herself raw.

ilovesprouts - that was my first thought.

hes black and i cant see anything he is constantly scratching tho.

Fleas most likely, mange after that. Stronghold from vet will sort both.

Bella32 · 19/09/2010 20:07

Comb his fur onto a piece of damp white kitchen roll. If you see little brown specks that's flea dirt Wink

yes it's fleas!! just bathed him.. must be allergic to them.

Thank you.
