someone posted good ideas for kong fillers

sorry to be a pain in the arse but would you mind posting them again please, we don't seem to have much interest inpeanut butter or the paste. also, WB is a golden and i have bought the large puppy kong for his breed size but he can never get very far into the kong to lick out the peanut butter. he can really only lick round the top so it means i am dumping loads of peanut butter everytime he uses it as he can't get at it. is this normal? should i buy a bigger one?

have just realised that the lack of interest in fillers is more likely to do with the fact that he can't get at them due to small hole in the kong.

We've got a medium puppy kong which Lily (black lab, 11 weeks) is currently loving. We've stuffed it with a little bit of adult kong liver paste and a few dog treats this time.

I've also soaked some of her kibble and stuffed that into a Kong and frozen it. It takes her ages to get that out.

I did have to teach her what the Kong was about - and it doesn't occupy her at the expense of everything else. We also have some sterilised bones from pet shops which I scraped out the horrid filling from and did the same paste and treat or kibble filling. She tries really hard to play with the adult kongs which our other dogs have, but just can't do it. They're too big and deep for her.

Only 15 minutes ago, she was trying to bite the merry hell out of my right ankle. She had a quick trip to the crate to cool off for a couple of minutes and then a Kong to hassle. My ankle is feeling the relief!

I'd like more stuffing suggestions too! Some people stuff with banana I think which we might try. I also ram a carrot into the big girls Kongs which they love.

Yes, yes, be GREAT to get ideas and explanation. People talk about freezing - I couldn't understand why - do your dogs have the patience, does the food melt as they work at it?!!

Have a 12 week old springer pup, two kongs so far, I stuff with pasta, chicken, kibble, odd biscuit and some of that kong paste. Keeps her quiet for approx 3 mins of drama and explosive activity. I am definitely doing something wrong - we got through six today. Hmm, also, should there be a limit?

Mine love frozen kongs. I use fairly wet, cooked rice, mixed with some tuna. It disappears surprisingly fast Or you could use gravy...

but do all your dogs persevre til they get all the stuffing out? WB is 10 weeks and he only ever gets the suff that is round the rim and then he gets fed up. it really is only a few licks.

But a 10 week old puppy may not be able to, or may not be greedy hungry enough to persevere.

Personally, I wouldn't feed a whole kong full of peanut butter. I would only use the peanut butter as a 'plug' to seal the top, and use something like kibble to fill up the space. Hang on - will find you a link...

While you are all here and talking of treats I need training treats for devil dog. His kong gets stuffed with raw mince (though not daily or he would be fat and I would be skint) as he just doesn't seem to like food much.

So far training treats we have tried have been cheese, which was a complete failure, ham - same as cheese, hotdogs - he will work for in the house but they are just not yummy enough to work for outside or to lure him to bed with, liver cake - same as hotdogs.

And is there any dried food, besides Hills cat food, that he would love? Or even any wet food that they sell in multi packs, because so far all he will eat is JWB lamb and rice sachets or the cats food.

shiny, i tried a sample of fish4dogs sea jerky tiddlers and WB followed me about all day in the hope of even getting a whiff of them he loved the. going to order some more now that i have my dicount code.
