because they arent interested in their non-bouncey ones. but go mad if dd's have a small bouncey ball. which now means i have to seperate dog and kids when bouncey balls are about. as the kids ones are too small.

Erm.. yes,

tennis balls?

fruitshootsandheaves · 07/09/2010 17:59

You can get really hard rubber balls in a lot of pet shops, they are quite bouncy.
I use the soft ones that come in packs of three. you can get them in the supermarket, they can't crush them like a tennis ball but they do shred them into little foam bits if you leave them with one.

misdee · 07/09/2010 20:35

i bought dog specific tennis balls, and they didnt bounce. very disappointed.

buy normal ones?

Do you want rubber ones? If so just go to any normal pet shop and buy a bouncy one?

Confused
misdee · 07/09/2010 20:45

thanks. i live miles away from a pet shop. so think i'll take a train up to the big one and bounce a few balls around.

wasnt sure if there was some reason dogs couldnt have tennis balls these days, as thats all we used t use as kids. and Patch would destroy them in a week lol.

i know the ones you are talking about Misdee, but I don't think I have ever seen that type for dogs.

The solid rubber balls you can get at many of the pet wholesalers do bounce quite high, but not in the 'manic' way I think you are describing Grin

TonariNoTotoro · 07/09/2010 20:52

sorry, I didn't mean to be snippy.

I'd just buy a tube of tennis balls (normal ones)

misdee · 07/09/2010 20:52

yep, they love the tiny ones you get out of the little machines for 50p-£1 each. they ones that bounce HIIIIIgh lol.

you can imagine it, can't you.... dog in a squash court... lots of those balls bouncing off all the walls like the sony bravia adverts = dog heaven!

TonariNoTotoro · 07/09/2010 21:08

mrsfred, are you talking about today's google page? Grin

misdee · 07/09/2010 21:08

that would be heaven. atm, if its one of the kids them off the two walls in the hallway. then i get a pup going practically cross eyed trying to catch it. Grin

missdee - you do have a spaniel by any chance? Grin

mrsfred · 07/09/2010 21:14

Hadn't seen Google until you mentioned it - just like that!

My dog chases torchlight on the walls, just like a cat. You can also keep him amused for an hour or so with a bubble machine Grin

misdee · 07/09/2010 21:15

no, labradoodles. mad as hatters.

TonariNoTotoro · 07/09/2010 22:02

ah, brilliant. I know someone who has one called Noodle. Grin

bumpybecky · 07/09/2010 22:58

we used to have a rubber ball that was sort of like a cube with holes on all sides

it bounced, but was highly unpredictable as to what direction it went it! dog loved it :)

Tippychoocks · 07/09/2010 23:01

Those small bouncy balls are the exact shape and size to block the average dog's windpipe. They tend to catch them from a high bouce and get them stuck.
Best to get the bigger ones.

misdee · 08/09/2010 10:30

which is why i was asking tippy. i had visions of the little balls getting stuck and me doing CPR on a dog.

will check out that ball with holes on :)

The fantastic ball with holes on was my favourite dog ball ever, but it has been discontinued for a long time now.

My next best is now Orbee balls, they are pretty bouncy and the mint smell (which doesn't seem to fade) helps dogs find them.

However they are expensive and not one to lose!

Tippychoocks · 08/09/2010 11:00

Sorry, misdee, didn't understand that from your post. Ick to CPR with doggy breath Grin

Sorry to hijack thread.
