The Happy Place Café and Tilly's dog wash is still open.

Morning and welcome.

To anyone new this is the Happy Place Café, all food and drink served here is calorie free. Everyone is welcome.

There are some people who have been here for literally years and others are newer.

The staff are me, obviously, Florence a French pastry chef who is married to Fernando the cocktail waiter (no one knows where Fernando is from so we suspect the marriage was about visas).

In a previous incarnation one of the regulars was Tilly (RIP) who brought a sparkling light in to the café along with a lemur named Leo.

Leo runs a dog wash (Tilly had a golden retriever and her family agreed to the dog wash as a tribute) but as there are rarely and dogs around he will wash anything, his other interests are goats and eggs. He spends every morning cooking eggs.

Outside the café is seating and a water feature, the water feature becomes a swimming pool in summer and an ice rink in winter. There is also a petting zoo.

Other residents are the kittenbees who are kittens the size of a bee with wings, they are very gentle but like to nibble anything sweet. Please do not give them alcohol.

Outside is where their larger cousins the bumblecats live, they are about the size of a fist and a lot more feisty than the kittenbees.

There is normally a daily special for breakfast and sometimes there is a pack up / bait / packed lunch.

Now to breakfast.

I thought a little trip to Germany would fit this morning so Florence is making bread rolls, soft and crusty, Leo is baking / frying / boiling eggs and Fernando is serving Apfelkorn.

I put out a selection of cooked meats, cheeses, jam, nutella, marmalade and if you want that abomination that people wither love or hate, it is in a locked box in the garden, far from the café, that is where it is to be consumed.

Actually I watched a vid from 'Atomic Shrimp' the other day that featured the brown paste added to warm milk.

Morning.

I hope everyone is well rested. For a change I think we should head for Algeria. Florence is making aghir and msemen, Leo is making fried eggs, they are not part of a traditional Algerian breakfast, but Leo is Leo.

Fernando is making coffee, Arabic and French. With a drop of cognac if you like.

I'll make some ham and cheese sandwiches and crisps for a pack up.

Morning. Quite a rough night so I'm taking a seat and allowing F and F to get on with things.

Morning.

OK so another rough day so I'm going to make a breakfast out of what's in my cupboards / fridge IRL.

So beefsteak tomato salad, olives, cheeses, hams and cooked meats. Fernando is making coffee and hot chocolate. Florence is making bread, a nice one with seeds and grains in it and Leo is a bit puzzled by pickled eggs.

Hope you are ok @sashh

MrsRandallFraser · 10/06/2025 05:06

Morning everyone!

Hope you’re ok @sashhand feeling better today. Someone seems to have cracked this sleeping thing as we’ve just had a solid 7 hours.

I’ll put the kettle on whilst I’m here whilst we see what F&F&L are making today.

ScottBakula · 10/06/2025 06:20

Morning everyone, it seems we are all feeling a bit rough over the past few days .
I don't know what is wrong with me , I just feel really worn out and cba with anything.

@MrsRandallFraser I hope the sleeping though continues Zzzzzz

sashh · 10/06/2025 06:20

Morning.

I think today we should have a trip to France for Florence's croissants and flaky pastries. I'm a bit fed up of eggs so Leo is heading off to wash the goats.

Fernando is making sangria.

OP posts:
sashh · 10/06/2025 08:47

@ScottBakula I know how you feel, something seems to be going round.

OP posts:
sashh · 11/06/2025 05:35

Morning.

How is everyone feeling? It looks a little brighter so I'm going to fire up the BBQ for sausages, wursts etc.

Florence is making soft rolls to go with them and Fernando has a mixed fruit mocktail.

Leo seems to think eggs will cook wrapped in foil in amongst the charcoal.

Morning! (Just got in there in time)

A breakfast BBQ sounds ideal, I’ll take a hot dog and a fruit mocktail.

Hope you’re feeling better @sashhand you get to enjoy this lovely weather today!

ScottBakula · 11/06/2025 20:34

I am still feeling meh , I have no idea what's wrong.
I have a hospital appointment tomorrow which I'm not really looking forward to but I don't think it's related to that .

Anyway . . . ., is there any bbq food left ? I could really go for a sausage buttie .
How did Leo's eggs go ? Did they explode ? .

Have you all seen this thread , it's very funny and true madcap mn style.

Morning.

The less said about Leos eggs the better, he is off washing the goats at the moment.

I'll make some cold sausage butties as a pack up. Do you want a sauce / mustard / pickle?

But I'll fire up the BB again.

Thank you for the link, half way through reading now.

Any chance of some fried onions with the sausages? I know it’s not really breakfast-y but it sounds delicious right now!

sashh · 12/06/2025 06:14

Onions on the way.

OP posts:
ScottBakula · 12/06/2025 08:09

That's a good idea , can I have some fried onions to and a bit of English mustard.

sashh · 12/06/2025 10:29

Not a problem @ScottBakula

tattoonewbie · 13/06/2025 05:09

Here again. Awake since 2.30 fretting about health. Think I'll give up on sleep now and catch a nap this morning after docs appointment

sashh · 13/06/2025 05:34

Morning.

I had a bad night too @tattoonewbie so I'm just going to make 'things on toast'. Florence is making muffins and Fernando has a huge jug of sangria. Leo is as usual cooking eggs.

OP posts:
ScottBakula · 13/06/2025 08:02

There must be something in the air , I had a rough night too, my hip was achey all night.

@sashh on toast is just what I need , can I have beans on 1 slice of granary and a poached egg on another.
And a miners coffee please.

@tattoonewbie I hope your hospital appointment goes well and you get a undisturbed kip later

sashh · 13/06/2025 08:36

@ScottBakula mine was my knees. I wonder if it is the weather?

Beans and an egg (from Leo) on its way.

OP posts:
tattoonewbie · 13/06/2025 11:15

Ooh if there's still beans. I'd love some. I was just awake for hours. Usually it's a couple but this was 4 long lonely hours

sashh · 14/06/2025 04:35

Morning.

@tattoonewbie I hope you slept last night.

Well for a bit of an adventure let's head to Suriname. Florence is making Dutch style bread and I'll put out a selection of fillings to make broodje boulet, Salty fish, kidney and potatoes, shrimp and veggies. Beef curry, smoked catfish and mango salad.

Fernando has Surinamese rum. And Leo is making kerri egg.

OP posts:
tattoonewbie · 14/06/2025 21:32

Got a better night ish
Not hopeful for tonight but I'll take some rum if available. Might help

MrsRandallFraser · 15/06/2025 01:53

An early bedtime means a very early wake up for us. I think I’ll pop the kettle on for some (decaf) tea and have a little nap in the corner until a slightly more sociable time.

sashh · 15/06/2025 01:57

Morning.

I hope the rum helped @tattoonewbie .

I think we'll not go to far today, a trip to Costa Rica for gallo pinto, fried plantain, fruit and juice.

Florence is making baguettes, Fernando is serving Imperial beer with ice and Leo is making a large dish of scrambled eggs for us to share.
