@MinnieMountain of course, do you mind making it?

OP posts:
MinnieMountain · 19/12/2023 06:32

Happy to (scurries down to Lidl).
l’ll get the gluhwein on.

ScottBakula · 19/12/2023 07:52

@MinnieMountain , can you get some smoked ham while you are there. They use to sell small cooked joints in the deli section but I am not sure if they still do.

I fancy a ham omelette, does anyone else want one ?

Tilllly · 19/12/2023 09:44

Me please @ScottBakula
Well cooked

ScottBakula · 19/12/2023 13:07

Absolutely delicious
🏆 omelette maker

sashh · 20/12/2023 02:12

Morning.

That was so nice to have a day off thank you.

I think I'll just do a fry up so various varieties of bacon, sausages, eggs, beans, potato cakes, tomatoes, toast and of course marmalade (not on the same plate).

Florence is making soda bread and Fernando is making tea, herbal tea and coffee all with an optional dram of something to keep the cold out.

MinnieMountain · 20/12/2023 05:48

Morning
A full English for me too please. With an omelette since I missed @ScottBakula s.
But please explain marmalade. I feel the same about it as you do about marmite @sashh .
When are the kittenbees doing their nativity play?

sashh · 20/12/2023 06:44

<Hands over large plates of food>

The nativity play will be on one of the tables, they are very excited even though I'm not sure they know what they are doing.

I've been out for curry with friends

I will only require coffee in the morning....

So full!

ScottBakula · 21/12/2023 00:16

Good morning all,

@Tilllly , I have made a large pot of coffee help yourself.

Its very windy and keeps raining here so I fancy something warming , so I have made a big pan of porridge. Help yourself everyone.

Tilllly · 21/12/2023 00:21

Merci beaucoup

So cold here, no ☔️ but very windy

sashh · 21/12/2023 06:42

Morning.

So today is the winter solstice and the night of Yalda so I'm putting out a selection of red / orange fruits so pomegranates, water melon, oranges, satsumas, a variety of berries.

Lets stick with Persia for the rest of breakfast so FLorence is making a selection of flat breads.

I'll lay out some paneer, tomatoes, cucumbers and hard boiled eggs and a selection of nuts.

Fernando is making tea and aragh sagi.

As breakfast is basically a buffet I'll make that the basis of a packing up and add Hamantaschen.

OP posts:
Tilllly · 21/12/2023 22:12

That all sounds right up my street

But what is Hamanashythibgy?

ScottBakula · 21/12/2023 22:32

Mmmm of fresh fruit and veggies , just what i need as apparently my vit D and C , and iron are all low.

Now that we have reached the winter solstice we can start to look forward to longer days , I can't wait

sashh · 22/12/2023 05:55

Morning.

Hamantaschen are a pastry filled with, well just about anything, they are Persian but also eaten at Purim which is a Jewish holiday with a lot of eating and drinking.

So this morning my irl breakfast is the leftovers from my solstice meal so rather unconventional.

Duck spring rolls, mozzarella sticks, mini sausages, pifs in blankets and chicken satay.

So I'm going to serve that in the cafe, Florence is making some nice crusty bread and Fernando is making pomegranate cocktails because it is still dark so Yalda is still being celebrated.

OP posts:
ScottBakula · 23/12/2023 00:13

That sounds like my kind of breakfast.

I like the sound of the Hamantaschen , can they be filled with fruit ? I am thinking summer berries kind of mix

sashh · 23/12/2023 01:07

Morning.

Well I know a lot of people are busy at this time of year so I'm keeping things simple so a big pot of porridge, Florence is making madeleines and Fernando is making tea with a tot of whisky.

@ScottBakula I don't see why not.

OP posts:
MinnieMountain · 23/12/2023 04:28

Morning
Porridge with honey and berries please.
Does whiskey make tea actually taste nice?

sashh · 23/12/2023 04:43

@MinnieMountain I have no idea, but I know an Irishman who has a shot in his morning tea every day.

OP posts:
ScottBakula · 23/12/2023 08:19

Can I have a bowl with berries and a tiny bit of cinnamon please.

I don't drink tea so I have no idea what whisky would taste like in it , but isn't it strange how brandy , whisky and rum are acceptable in coffee but rarely heard of in tea .

sashh · 23/12/2023 08:41

@ScottBakula here you go. Yes it's odd about tea not being as acceptable as coffee mixed with alcohol.

OP posts:
Tilllly · 23/12/2023 22:54

I need healthy breakfast

I've got heartburn, constipation and skin itches all over

Gah!

sashh · 24/12/2023 06:05

Morning.

A healthy breakfast?

Ok a fruit platter, yoghurt, selection of cereals with a selection of milks, hams / cold meats and cheese.

Florence is making cheese scones and Fernando is pouring medicinal brandy.
