Morning.

@fivetriangulartrees record player? Just ask Alexa to play your music.

Well it is quite frosty today so we need something hot, nasi goreng should fit the bill.

Obviously there will be a selection of fruit juices and Florence has made a madeleines and Fernando is making hot toddies.

Good morning all, I have missed a few days but it's good to see people enjoying the good food.

A very nice neighbour saw me coming home from work at 1am a few nights ago and gave me a small but very nice portion of samba . .
So I really fancy some more curry and all the sides @sashh can you put a spicy ( the more garlic the better ) meal together for me.

ScottBakula · 01/12/2023 03:01

Ooh "alexa, please play some decon blue "

> >>dances over to the bar for a pint of Guinness <<<👣👣👣👣

sashh · 01/12/2023 07:31

Morning.

@ScottBakula hotter than nasi? Not a problem.

Florence is making puris and dosas, there is some salted yoghurt and some very spicy pickles.

Aloo paratha and a spicy veg curry for an extra carb kick.

Fernando is making a sort of lassi but with a hint of vodka.

Tilllly · 01/12/2023 08:30

I don't know what any of that food is!

I'm in for an adventure

sashh · 01/12/2023 10:20

@Tilllly Not a fan of Indian food then?

OP posts:
Tilllly · 01/12/2023 16:06

Yes, I like Indian food, I'm just not very experienced with it, and so I end up getting the same thing like a chicken Buna every time instead of experimenting

sashh · 02/12/2023 05:38

Morning.

@Tilllly next time you go to get a take away ask if they will make you a thali, it's basically a plate of at least 5 different things, breads, rice and curries.

Well it is still cold and wet so we need something warming, crispy bacon fried with tomatoes until the tomatoes go mushy.

Florence is making crumpets and Fernando is making coffee with flavoured syrup, the hazelnut is my favorite.

OP posts:
ScottBakula · 02/12/2023 12:51

Thank you for all the curry and sides delights @sashh .

@Tilllly I second Sashh's idea of getting a few samples ( tho I must say I didn't know there was a specific name for it )
When a new take away opened in my DBs town many years ago they had a big sign outside saying something like.

We are new and if you would like to try some new food ask for our sample board.
5 curries 2 rice , 2 bread , 2 sides, 2 pickles .

The portions sizes were only small but enough to give you a good idea of what they were like as a full meal.

For each of the curries the had a little label with the ingredients, where in India it came from and what is traditional eaten with it.

Apparently they only planned to run the sample board for a month or so until everyone got to know what curries they liked but it was so popular that they kept it on the menu.

ScottBakula · 02/12/2023 12:56

Please can I have a couple of slices of butter with some crumpets on them ( the only way to eat crumpets imo 😁)
And a black coffee.

I am going to be doing a lot of sanding later so a flask of coffee would be much appreciated.
And perhaps something a bit stronger for this evening.

sashh · 03/12/2023 07:41

Morning. I will keep the crumpets on the menu for today with lots of butter, and a pot of honey, try it @ScottBakula

There is snow where I am so we certainly need something warm so bubble and squeak with eggs and bacon on the start.

Florence is making oatcakes and Fernando has some herbal teas.

I'll put a beef stew in the slow cooker far anyone eating later and there is red wine to go with it.

sashh · 04/12/2023 03:33

Morning.

Well yesterday wasn't popular. So I'll switch to something different. Let's turn up the heating and pretend we are somewhere tropical.

Rice with a spicy veg soup, tropical fruit and fruit juices. Florence is making Banh Chuoi and Fernando is serving Son Tinh.

OP posts:
ScottBakula · 04/12/2023 08:46

Good morning all ,

Spicy veg soup sounds very nice for lunch.
If there is any beef stew left please can I take some home for my tea.

sashh · 04/12/2023 09:04

@ScottBakula I put a portion in the freezer so yes of course you can.

OP posts:
ScottBakula · 04/12/2023 12:54

Thank you @sashh , I will grab it on my way home.

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 04/12/2023 21:32

Just want to say, I'm not awake in the middle of the night but I love this thread. I'd love a spicy veg soup with some rice and a pretend visit to the tropics x

sashh · 05/12/2023 05:13

Morning.

We have not had a fry up for a while so lets go for an English breakfast, bacon, sausages, eggs cooked how you like, potato cakes, beans, black pudding, tomatoes, toast and tea/coffee.

Florence is making muffins, the bread type not the sweet type and Fernando has a selection of whiskeys to add to the tea.

I'll make a pack up / take away of a thick vegi soup and cheese scones.

@Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket you can come in at any time and help yourself.

OP posts:
ScottBakula · 05/12/2023 06:44

Oooh a fry up , yes please with
Poached Eggs and hash browns .

Mummaluma · 05/12/2023 08:19

Definitely up for a fry up. Very bad night. I have asked for my train to be diverted to the Happy Place Cafe.

sashh · 05/12/2023 08:35

I knew a fry up would be welcome.

OP posts:
Tilllly · 05/12/2023 14:57

And it is

Can I have extra bacon please

sashh · 06/12/2023 04:43

Morning.

OK people here is a breakfast I have not come across outside Yorkshire (or my house).

Yorkshire pudding with golden syrup.

Florence is making galettes and Fernando is making a mead and whisky combination.

For anyone needing a pack up there is a cheese quiche, salad, onions pickled in raspberry vinegar, roasted green beans and a lemon tart.

OP posts:
ScottBakula · 06/12/2023 13:44

When ever I make chuckfrozen ones in the oven yorkies I always do a few extra and have a bit of jam on them , so I am definitely up for trying them with syrup.

Please can I have a jacket spud with my quiche, it's a bit clod for salad . I really like raspberry vinegar pickles so that will go down very well.

Tilllly · 06/12/2023 21:02

Can we have eggy bread tomorrow? I have a hankering

MinnieMountain · 07/12/2023 05:30

Morning
I’m going to help myself to coffee and settle info a chair by the fire with a blanket.
