Do you think big brother messed up?

Me and dh have been discussing the thing tonight with Eugene,
We think they made a mistake NOT telling him about the doubling. ( ie think they meant to tell him but cocked up)

Otherwise how could he have made any other decision than the one he made?

All he knew is " here is half the cash. You can have it right now. The winner on Friday gets the other half". How could he NOT take what he thought was half the money? If they had told him the cash would double if left alone that would havebeen a proper and interesting moral dilema for him, As it was there was no dilema.
Anyone else think BB made a mistake?

the test to the remaining housemates as in how they treat Eugene now. I know that they weren't ever nice to him but can you imagine what it would do for their votes if they openly hated him for what he had done?

mummyjojo2D · 10/08/2005 22:40

There is nothing yet on the bb website about the money so maybe, it dosnt normally take over an hour to update the news on there. Perhaps they need to do some fudging.

mummyjojo2D · 10/08/2005 22:44

I am quite addicted to scones, strange I know. but hey each to there own.

I wonder what the papers will have to say about it 2morrow??

popmum · 10/08/2005 23:05

In reality of course Eugene actually took £150K off the winner (unless it is him, then he lost himself £100K).
I don't think they messed up - the fact he thought he would be evicted is cos they are all so paranoid and the choice was 'should I be selfish and guarantee £ for myself' or 'should I hope am going to win and keep it all (ie say no)' or 'say no because it was only chance he was in there and the winner would deserve the full prize fund'????
I'd have said no, but then I wouldn't be in BB ever anyway!!

milward · 10/08/2005 23:34

Tey could see if Eugene wants to 'gamble' his money. If he puts it back into the prize fund the fund will be 200,000 but if he doesn't the winner will get 50,000.

I dont think bb will leave it like that. I reckon there'll be a task that they will have to succeed which will double the money back to what it was in the first place! I don't think they expected anyone-let alone Eugene!-to take that money tonight, knowing that all the other house-mates were listening in . Badly planned, I reckon.

Lizita · 11/08/2005 00:17

I thought it was going to be a lot more juicy than that. In fact I'm sure I heard Davina say at the end of the first part "Craig is out of the house - OR IS HE?"
I thought it was going to turn out to be a complete lie that he got the least votes, and someone in the house would have to make some sort of decision about that, or about who should go next or win or something ! (I don't know I'm not very creative with ideas like this!!)

steffee · 11/08/2005 00:43

Poor Eugene's breaking his heart (new story on BB site!)

I heard that about craig too..

MandM · 11/08/2005 11:18

She definitely said "or is he?"

MandM · 11/08/2005 11:20

Just thinking - the whole £50k/£200k thing definitely seemed like a cock up and with Davina saying those words -does anyone think that maybe BB had originally intended offering all the housemates the dilema of giving up £50k of the prize money to have Craig back in the house and then changed their mind at the last minute for some reason????

think she meant was he 'out' ie was he ready to admit his sexuality, rather than being out of the house.

ScummyMummy · 11/08/2005 11:36

Ah! Clever Davina. And Zubb.

Lizita · 11/08/2005 11:45

It was something like that that i Was thinking MandM, but then that's not much of a dilemma either!

Gobbledigook · 11/08/2005 11:46

AHhh, yes, cos I thought a housemate was going to have to make some sort of decision that might bring Craig back in. I was quite disappointed when they just went straight to his interview.

Loved it at the end of his interview where he shouted 'Makosi is a bitch'!!! How right he is - eeew, she's horrible

jasper · 11/08/2005 11:50

Good thinking MandyM. That makes sense.
So does Zubb's point.
