is his accent his real one - seems a bit forced brit

CagedBird · 04/05/2010 21:26

So far a waste of good talent, the script is poor

Fabhead that is his real accent

Aitch · 04/05/2010 21:27

oh NO, really? i haven't started watching it yet, am about to. it's got such a great cast...

Nevergoogle · 04/05/2010 21:32

really good cast, the direction and production seem good quality but it's a bit like watching die hard set in london.

any minute now somebody is going to get stuck on the toilet with a bomb under them.

gutted. i've purposely not watched this cos i want to watch it with the rest of the world for once. adore idris elba. i did a bit at unconventional genius maverick detective, i must say... but ruth wilson is in it and she is my favourite duckface ever.

fabhead · 04/05/2010 21:36

i think it mightbe his real accent - am used to seeing him in the Wire with US accent - I think he was out there for a long time, just wondering if the Brit one was overdone as a result. I have only seen him in The Wire so it just seems weird.

fabhead · 04/05/2010 21:37

yes very ducky!!

Molesworth · 04/05/2010 21:38

I can't cope with String talking like that (even though it's his real accent)!

Nevergoogle · 04/05/2010 21:41

oh yes, they are all very beautiful.

still waiting for the clever twist to break it away from the usual format.

OP posts:
Aitch · 04/05/2010 21:41

his accent is FINE, what are you all talking about?

CagedBird · 04/05/2010 21:41

Ahhhh duck face I couldn't put a name to what she reminded me of. I do think she's a great actress though.

I've seen quite a few interviews with him and he always sounds the same tbh but it must sound strange if you've only seen him in the wire. I didn't watch it but I was told he was amazing in it and fooled the american audiences into believing he was from there.

Aitch · 04/05/2010 21:42

gosh his eyes really are quite lovely. oooooh, paul mcgann! i'd forgotten he was in it.

Molesworth · 04/05/2010 21:43

The writing is very poor isn't it. Disappointing waste of a cast, like that Freefall thing last year (credit crunch drama with Mayor Carcetti)

CagedBird · 04/05/2010 21:44

oooo a glimpse of light

Aitch · 04/05/2010 21:49

was that the one that sarah harding was surprisingly okay in?

i'm liking the yawn thing? am i just rubbish at this? it seems to me like a clear attempt to sell into the US market.

Molesworth · 04/05/2010 21:50

Yes, that was the one aitch - I forgot Sarah Harding was (surprisingly OK) in it. It got hyped out of existence but turned out to be shite

Nevergoogle · 04/05/2010 21:50

the yawn thing made DH and I roll our eyes and argue about whether to switch it off. I'm giving it every opportunity. DH has gone to bed.

squeaver · 04/05/2010 21:52

I'm liking it but then I'd watch if he was in Emmerdale...

ilovemydogandMrBrown · 04/05/2010 21:53

Stringer Bell? God, I love that man... shiiiiiiiittttttttt

CagedBird · 04/05/2010 21:53

and the light's gone out

Nevergoogle · 04/05/2010 21:54

I have no idea who he is. Recognise her from Small Island BBC adaptation though.

OP posts:
Aitch · 04/05/2010 21:54

this is also my critical position on idris elba, squeaver. i LIKE the yawn thing, very housey. this is just house with brit edge.
hate saskia reeves' accent more than elba's. don't like any of her dialogue either.
