Anyone going to watch tonight?

As much as I find him annoying, I do always find his programmes eye-opening. I will be watching with interest as my DS2 has ASD and ADHD.

As a psychologist who works with people with ASD it worried me to hear Hughe's diagnosis of ASD brushed over inthe programme. I really felt for his parents who were clearly struggling and from the snapshot of their lives that we saw it did not look like they were being offered support to understand their son's needs or put routines and structures into place which might have offered him much needed predictability (perhaps this would have avoided the argument about having a shower). It does not seem helpful to pile more diagnoses on people when an understanding of ASD is all that would be needed to explain his behaviours. I was a little worried by a comment in this thread about psychologists having a lot to answer for. Please be reassured that psychologists in the UK do not prescibe meds and any good psychologist would always be looking at environmental changes and support instead.
