That was ggglimpopo in the sunglasses in the park in Bordeaux

The other teacher?

Janh · 10/08/2005 23:48

The one talking about French CVs (Rhubarb took over her job when gggl went on maternity leave)

Is it small world? or did they meet in France? or is it the mighty powers of Mumsnet (all confused here...)

Janh · 10/08/2005 23:51

It was the mighty powers of MN (with a little help from me!)

Chandra · 10/08/2005 23:53

Confess then mighty Janh, what have you done??? did you put them in contact?

Janh · 10/08/2005 23:58

Well I knew Rhubarb for ages (I was at the party at Aidan's parents but am a good invisible lurker ), and I knew gggl from last summer when her stepson and niece came to stay here and then my DS1 went to stay there; so when Rhubarb was looking for somewhere to go and work I put her in touch with gggl.

MN is the best network!

Janh - you get everywhere

Chandra · 11/08/2005 00:02

Wow! no doubt it is!

Fio2 · 11/08/2005 00:08

no-one ever forget that the lovely janh is just wonderful

FrenchGirl · 11/08/2005 10:01

JanH, that programme was great. Thought Rhubarb was so strong and brave!! Funnily enough, when I was a student in Bordeaux I worked at St Joseph de Tivoli for a year as a 'playground supervisor' (pionne!), couldn't believe it when Rhubarb went there

Tinker · 11/08/2005 10:09

Thought she was very brave, I couldn't stand in front of a class of moody French teens. Liked Aiden, thought he was funny. Kids are CUTE!

Blu · 11/08/2005 10:16

Aha! I spotted ggg - the mystery appearance and wondered how that little mN connection had come about! - but then had to turn the tv off because of our house guest / sleeping arrangements. So has it all worked out for Rhubarb and famliy? What's happening now?

Briliant programme - I am much in awe of you, Rhubarb!

How did you say ggglimpopo ct?

coppertop · 11/08/2005 10:49

I sounded as though I had a terrible stammer.

Blu · 11/08/2005 10:51

So what ARE Rhubarb and family doing now? Sorry - can I find it if I search somewhere? Are you still teaching there, and is DH driving a french digger??

Tinker · 11/08/2005 10:54

Here Blu. 2 threads atm

By Janh on Thursday, 11 August, 2005 10:22:28 AM

They are still in France, Rhubarb isn't posting atm because she hasn't got regular access to a PC. (She was posting from a PC at Tivoli earlier in the year on Fridays, the staff have wine with lunch and we got some quite tiddly posts from her but only on threads with no even slightly dodgy words due to school's profanity filter )

But I had an email last week saying they are getting a PC soon and she hopes to be online again by Sept - which is great news because there was a chance that they would have to come back this summer so obviously that's not happening now.

figleaf, Rhubarb found a part-time job and her DH got some part-time work too, which cheered him up! DD is happily settled into a French school and DS goes to nursery and they have rented a lovely house in a village outside Bordeaux

marthamoo · 11/08/2005 10:56

Oh POOH - I missed it.

Blu · 11/08/2005 10:57

Wow! that's fantastic. Thanks tinker. Well done , Rhubarb and bunch!

lilibet · 11/08/2005 15:22

Janh - did you tape it?

And if you did would you bring it to the meet next week?

pleeaaassse?

my video is crap

Janh · 11/08/2005 15:24

Yes I did, lil (for DH who is away atm but will have seen it by next week) - will try to remember to bring, but won't tape over it anyway, so if I happen to forget I can always post it

OP posts:
Janh · 11/08/2005 15:25

moo, you can borrow it too if you like (although I'm sure it will be repeated, msot things are after all, we'll have to get Kanga on the case!)

OP posts:
lilibet · 11/08/2005 17:01

Demented · 11/08/2005 21:40

Glad things are working out for you in France.
