Gripping.
That Rachel Johnson seems like a right cow... but the magazine clearly needed a kick up the backside.

I thought Rachel Johnson came across as quite inexperienced. She seemed to have lots of ideas but no real plan. I switched off after 30 mins ...

What happened at the end? I just watched it, but the recording stopped when RJ was talking to the 2 brothers about the Sunday Times piece!

I like her, I think she was pretty brave to take the job on. Love her haircut!

BadGardener · 19/03/2010 13:51

Duchess of Devonshire is always brilliant. And did you notice the big bins of chickenfeed by her front door?
If RJ had got her to do the agony column that would be almost worth buying the magazine for by itself. They didn't say whether she had agreed or not though did they?

No, perhaps 5foot5 can scour the pages for us, as a regular reader of The Lady it seems

Thought the bash them advice better than the more thought about second advice - 'I'd put something very large in their mouths'

that is still making me laugh now.

Right. At the end, she had a bit of a hissy fit about them not realizing how great the Times piece was, and they looked a bit abashed and uncertain. And then erm, that was it I think. There was a shot of her typing, and Richard E Grant said she was writing a book about it, and she did odd staring into the camera.

And that was that.

VerityBrulee · 19/03/2010 14:14

Thanks ahundredtimes, I wondered if she would flounce out. Writing a book about it probably more financially prudent than flouncing.

loungelizard · 19/03/2010 14:55

Yes, perhaps she's only doing the editorship so she can write a book about it!!

DuddleDipper · 19/03/2010 14:56

I can't be entirely sure, but I seem to remember reading an article on RB a while back and it said she was ""Mrs Boden", as in married the one and only Johnnie Boden !!!

5Foot5 · 19/03/2010 17:01

If the Duchess of Devonshire did do an agony column then I think it must have been a one-off as I have never come across it.

I don't get it every week but at least once or twice a month so if it was in I may have missed it.

Sounded a good idea though!

loungelizard · 19/03/2010 17:06

She's not married to Johnny Boden. Sorry to disappoint.

BadGardener · 19/03/2010 17:21

I've just realised we can refer to her as D the D D of D. To save time.

They have a website.... www.lady.co.uk

Loved RJ - thought she was a breath of fresh air and should have been allowed to have got rid of all the dead weight regardless of the cost of redundancy. I'd say she saved the magazine from certain death although she probably needs to recruit some people who actually understand their target audience.

sandysmum · 19/03/2010 23:09

really enjoyed this too.
she had a fair point about the sunday times piece - i read it and it was a well balanced article. the brothers were nit picking. however she probably got that piece because of her column in the times. used to love reading it.

duchess of devonshire was hilarious!

ahundredtimes · 20/03/2010 09:25

I thought she DEFINITELY had a good point about the Sunday Times piece, that's what I mean about her being up against it - they were all reluctant and silly about everything.

She was great, very funny and sane and nice. With good clothes.

i agree with Butkin too
