She is a loon....but fabulous to watch.

BadGardener · 04/03/2010 20:32

gawd, talk about an English eccentric!
I love Ruth Watson!

loungelizard · 04/03/2010 20:32

MummyElk · 04/03/2010 20:37

those clothes......

orienteerer · 04/03/2010 20:56

I know where the house is but never been. She seems completely barking, but amazing that ex partner still funds. Also amazing how many people are willing to volunteer to help.

orienteerer · 04/03/2010 21:00

She bought it for £75K and (he) has spent £400K

HumphreyCobbler · 04/03/2010 21:03

That was a truly amazing house.

The owner would HAVE to be an eccentric, anyone sane would not still be living there.

loungelizard · 04/03/2010 21:16

Thought was sad she was estranged from only child. Seemed quite nice really, just a bit strange. Am positive is some 1960s ex model with sugar daddy paying the bills (although he must be a million years old by now).

I know someone who went there for a dinner party one night.

The food was cold when seved as the kitchen was so far from the dining room, and they ate with the parrots flying around.

To end the night they all got locked in the dining room when the door handle fell off; one of the men climbed out of a window so they could get out.

Briliant. Think it sounds like a bloody good laugh. Wish some of the parties I went to had been so entertaining

expatinscotland · 04/03/2010 21:24

I want to meet her ex boyfriend. I'd gladly suck him off from London to Inverness and back again for that kind of money.

CwtchyMama · 08/03/2010 18:53

i live about 2 miles away from Plas Teg Hall, the lady is a total loon, believe me.

Girls Aloud went there with Most Haunted once. She charges a lot of money to do a ghost tour round there.

oxcat1 · 11/03/2010 17:52

I decided she was the Other Woman, and her other half paid her bills to get her, and their child away from London and anybody who might find out.....

I have too much time on my hands!

BadGardener · 11/03/2010 20:26

Anyone watching tonight? The young wife seems very sweet. (And very probably a MNer....)

MakemineaGandT · 11/03/2010 20:30

I'm watching! Yes she seems nice doesn't she

expatinscotland · 11/03/2010 20:31

I'm watching!

I think Ed and Sarah really want to take over, get it up and running so he can maybe change jobs and work in the business of the house instead.

And she's got a lot of good ideas.

But that gran's a bit of a one.

But she's got one foot in it and they need money.

Those houses are a full-time job.

expatinscotland · 11/03/2010 20:37

Sarah's got the brains to pull this off. She's working hard.

BadGardener · 11/03/2010 20:40

getting her to video the grandma imparting all her knowledge is a great idea - better tv than writing it down but will also give them something they can play to visitors, potentially.

It does bug me when the grandma keeps going on about preserving the family atmosphere though.... I'm not convinced that's really what visitors like - IME you want to feel welcomed when you go to country houses and very often the 'family atmosphere' can actually exclude you and rub in the fact that they are toffs and you're not....

expatinscotland · 11/03/2010 20:49

Exactly, Bad.

Ed's got a good catch in Sarah.

BadGardener · 11/03/2010 20:52

and he seems nice too. But weighed down by responsibility....

BariatricObama · 11/03/2010 20:53

ed's got serious hair issues

BooToYouToo · 12/03/2010 09:21

Can't wait to visit when it opens as not far from me, love a good maze and the kids will race to the summit without realising they are going on a walk. At first I thought Gran was too stubborn and agree that Sarah is wonderful. However I'm sure that in 2050 Sarah will have turned into the Gran and the latest Mrs Rogers will be tearing her hair out as they are not too disimilar IMHO.

Country houses are really a different world aren't they, was a bit when the Mum said Ed was the first Rogers to work for a living in 200 years! Also liked her analogy that opening up the house was like sending your child to boarding school and hoping they'll be loved, something most of us wouldn't know about.

BadGardener · 12/03/2010 11:02

yes we laughed at the boarding school analogy too Boo.
Bet you are spot on about Sarah when she is the matriarch.

Mind you, they couldn't sustain a whole series with episodes like this - the people on it were not clueless or arseholes or even insane!

BariatricObama · 12/03/2010 12:55

looks like next weeks arsehole will make up for this week's relative sanity
