Anyone watching.

OP posts:
CaveMum · 01/02/2011 21:27

Lizzie, and her sisters, just seem so very, very young. I remember what I was like at their age - shy, gawky and in no way ready to be married off to the first bloke that showed me a bit of attention [late developer emotcion]

Hopelesslydisorganised · 01/02/2011 21:27

Margaret is making me cry.

muminthecity · 01/02/2011 21:27

Those girls are so young and so beautiful Sad

Munaka · 01/02/2011 21:28

Good question Pooka.

Doubt it will get answered though unfortunately. As far as I know it's almost part of their training to be a wife. So that once they are past the age of 10/11, they are expected to take it all on.

Gargleswithjelly · 01/02/2011 21:28

This does happen in 'normal' society too though... thousands of kids are carers for disabled parents.

OhForBoonessSake · 01/02/2011 21:28

it is so all about control. it is nothing to do with the caravan being clean. it is a way of occupying theses girls so they aren't tempted to/or feel they can (out of obligation to clean) step outside their bubble and see what happens in the lives of a non-traveller girl.

theywillgrowup · 01/02/2011 21:28

welli suppose now lizzy hasnt got all the childcare etc to do maybe her day may be a bit easier unlike her poor sis

this is all quite depressing actually, feel for them poor girls, nothing to look forward to,dont think i will take my life and its freedom quite so for granted now

Strictly · 01/02/2011 21:28

Wow Lizzie is stunning!

Margaret is breaking my heart :(

I can't imagine not being able to read or write.

Normantebbit · 01/02/2011 21:29

I wonder if the families live in several trailers so there are quite a few to clean, it may be the oldest girl is given responsibility for kids and trailer while mum looks after dad.

I don't know, that's my theory

OhForBoonessSake · 01/02/2011 21:29

WRT lizzies caravan. if she has children, will she get a bigger caravan or will tehy squeeze them into that tiny one with only 1 bed?

Munaka · 01/02/2011 21:29

Yes, it does Gargles. Carers are allowed to stay on at school and learn to read and write. They aren't 'grabbed' either

NeverArgueWithAnIdiot · 01/02/2011 21:30

AFAIK, the parents normally live in one caravan and the children in another, so oldest daughter ends up with the work.

sheeplikessleep · 01/02/2011 21:30

all the wedding cakes are like girls birthday cakes!!

Hopelesslydisorganised · 01/02/2011 21:30

That is SOME cake.....

blametheparents · 01/02/2011 21:31

My DD would love that cake - she's 5!

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 01/02/2011 21:31

That's because they are little girls

Gargleswithjelly · 01/02/2011 21:31

Obviously it is different but similar in some ways is all I'm saying.

Munaka · 01/02/2011 21:31

"You're known for something at least that you've done"

How sad

Strictly · 01/02/2011 21:31

ummmmmmm cake

Normantebbit · 01/02/2011 21:32

Children are carers but in mainstream society girls are not taken out of school aged 12, left ignorant and illiterate and powerless.

TorianaTollywobbles · 01/02/2011 21:32

It seems like they go so over the top on their wedding day because that genuinely is the happiest day of their lives.

They don't have much else to look forward to Sad

ZeroZeroOne · 01/02/2011 21:32

oh i love the word lonesome

cerealqueen · 01/02/2011 21:32

'You are known for your wedding day, you are known for something' - that is as good as it gets? Sad What a waste.

Normantebbit · 01/02/2011 21:33

Ah mum hhas arthritis

ohmeohmy · 01/02/2011 21:33

she has stunning eyes
