I was really worried about what they would do to it, but I absolutely loved it

Was it, Pink Teddy?
Who is Tom Wilkinson?

He was the one we were struggling with.

Tom Wilkinson. He's been in loads of films including Full Monty, Shakespeare in Love, Michael Clayton etc

LizzyLordsALeaping · 26/12/2009 23:17

, of course it is him. Just didn't know his name!
Thanks Pinkteddy

My three (7.10, 4.3 and 2.6) absolutly loved it. We have watched it so many times now I have lost count. They won't let me delete it off Sky+. Or Shrek the Halls either.

MrsGokWantssomeChristmasSpirit · 27/12/2009 09:07

Guess what the first thing the boys wanted on was this morning

PfftTheMagicDragon · 27/12/2009 10:20

I thought it was lovely, the only thing was that as it was so drawn out, you lost the rhythm of the words that you get when you read it all together, but you can't have everything!

Animation was lovely and both DC's have watched it a few times, transfixed every time.

Divatheshopaholic · 27/12/2009 17:29

My dc 4.8 and 2.4 loved it. It was done brilliantly. DD brought book from school library couple weeks ago before holiday. And she absolutely loved it, when it finished she asked if we can have it on dvd
Apparently they are planning to do Grufallo`s child for the nest xmas, so fingers crossed

Buddleja · 27/12/2009 17:41

I loved it

Oddly enough one of the things I loved was the pace! As I found it perfect for just before bed - a real wind down

I sky plused it and we've watched it twice not (before bed on Christmas and Boxing day!!)

DS2 (he's 3) hid both time when the snake and gruffalo came one but still seemed to like it

InThisSequinBraYesYouOlaJordan · 27/12/2009 17:50

Twas fabulous

We are now watching it for the third time, and spotting loads and loads of different things in it (love the mouse diverting the ants away from the woodpecker)

DSDad didn't know the story and he loved it! Read that Julia Donaldson has held out for years for the "right" production, and I think she was wise, it was really, really fab

DisElfchanted3 · 27/12/2009 17:58

It was wonderful

Not drawn out at all, I want to watch it again

Raahh · 27/12/2009 20:25

We loved it here. DS got the book last year, which turns into a mini theatre, so he loved it anyway.
Dd was totally mesmerised- we loved the ant-distraction bit too!

Have had to read 'The Gruffalos's child' to dd 3 times to day , but i love all the JD/AS books, so no complaints
(and it sure beats having to watch bl*dy Santa Buddies or listen to The Snowman again!)

MistletoeNoelPresents · 27/12/2009 23:15

I loved it and amused MIL by reciting it before the characters said it, which she loved. Did like the clip of the Fox, Owl & Snake having a 'secret meeting'

maxybrown · 27/12/2009 23:45

We enjoyed it. DS told me no when i said about watching it as he was playing with his new garage but he soon joined me on the settee and didn't budge! Thought it was a little slow I have to say but did enjoy it. He got the books for Christmas and cd's so we are bi full on Gruffalo

TipsyFairydifferentID · 27/12/2009 23:48

I have no kids yet, but I loved it and so did my dh.

I thought the pace was exactly what a small child needs to be able to process the story- there's too much focus on things being fast-paced and energetic. We all need to have something to slow us down from time to time or we'd end up going nuts.

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/12/2009 10:52

was fab

my dc 4 LOVES this book and also the gruffalos child and often has as bedtime story

MmeLindt · 28/12/2009 11:01

We loved it too. And the books got a revival since we watched it.

My DC are 7 and 5 and I wondered if they would be too old for it but they sat entranced.

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/12/2009 11:18

mmelindt - my dc are 4 and 7 and baby 18mths and all 3 were entranced by it - as was woofa (well actually he snored through it) so db told me

did daphne ike it - pmsl

wintera · 28/12/2009 11:25

I hope they do The Gruffalo's Child next year!

FishInMyHair · 28/12/2009 11:26

We only got the book from the library last week and am watching it now for the first time. All is quiet and still here!

ChilloHippi · 28/12/2009 11:29

Ds (3) was also completely transfixed. It was lovely. The grandparents also sat and watched it
