Saw that 'last ever' episode, hoped there was a thread.
Yes the southern woman was an uber-bitch and the Hull family was lovely.
But should they have bought the horse? (much debated here - I think yes because it was such a lovely shared project for the family to do, dh thought not because they didn't have much money and could have run a car on the amount of money it was costing).

Watching on catc-up, very good comment about working hard albeit for less money and how much you appreciate it...

Am also a bit that some people live such a luxurious existence, without Mum needeing to work, on a decent, but in this day and age, not exactly huge joint income? Must live in the wrong part of the world????

Twinkleandpearls · 21/12/2009 10:58

Their house was a bit grim IMO,

I thought the Southern mum was VILE. I hated the way she kept saying she'd learnt nothing, but might have if she'd gone to a richer family.
How about appreciating their togetherness, their family entertainment and work ethic? How about admiring the fact that a 22 year old took on a family of five children and came across as mature, hard-working and sweet?

She was so dismissive of all the children (I've learnt about birth control) and too lazy to do housework for a few days.

And re the dog- didn't she have 2 dogs of her own? Surely she knows what puppies are like before they're fully housetrained.
Re the horse, it might not have been financially sound but it was their dream and their one extravagance- they had budgeted for it so as well.

I thought she was despicable. Her high five at the end was horrible- and her husband looked very embarrassed for her.

Dh and I still quote that bizarre Hitler line at each other from time to time . That woman was awful, awful, awful though (from the first ever one - didn't see the last).

LoveBeingAMummyKissingSanta · 22/12/2009 13:44

Can't believe that she kept saying she can't learn anything as its worse not better, how can youlearn from worse? WTF?!?

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/12/2009 18:37

i thought she was horrible, a right snob and i think her dh was emabarassed by her comments at the table

SleighGirl · 22/12/2009 18:53

I wish I could write to the mum in Hull and tell her that her house did not come across as dirty and unclean, yes in an ideal world it would have been nicer if it could be recarpeted etc but then any house with a family of 9 is going to wear out quickly.

I was horrified that the other mum did not learn that the larger family had so much going for them in terms of love and togetherness.

I was a bit at them taking on the work and cost of a horse however they are completely right in thinking that as a family they need something to do outside of the house and yes if possible off the estate.

I know which house & family I would rather live with!

madusa · 28/12/2009 14:20

the Hull family were all lovely.

The southern "lady" was everything that is wrong with the uk at present. She was dreadful. I honestly can't think of one nice thing to say about her. Snobbery at its worst!

mattsara · 29/01/2011 22:05

i liked how that little girl with the red hair, said isnt a stay at home mum ment to clean and look after her children, GOOD LASS LITTLE ONE, then she quoted, not do your nails, and leave your kids to cook and clean ect, hehe!!! i would rather be around the mother and 7 kids any day of the week, that stuck up cow was ugly, no wonder she needed to pamper her self, and her hubby, was lovely, he deserves better, good looker too, cant see them lasting, especialy after she shown the world what a stuck up cow she realy isnnnnnt, wannabe.x

I saw the 'large' family from the 1st episode on another programme. It was about a family weightloss plan and they were in competition with another family. They only lost one pound between them, and that was over 3 months. Not only that they also caused a major fight with the other family. They just had a really major attitude problem, they ignored all the advice they were given from the experts and were just overall really stroppy.
