kittya - I thought she had a toy boy and they weren't married?

MrsJamin · 09/12/2009 20:14

she's just so posh and smug with it. What percentage of people watching this will actually make anything?!

Lapsedrunner · 09/12/2009 20:16

It makes me feel good though, I mean I'm not going to make any of it but she is my proxy

She just bought a bottle off a market stand and enthused about it being a lovely present etc.

You can get them in my pound shop.

Not very Cath Kidson

I cant help but like her but she does talk a lot of old twank.

MrsJamin · 09/12/2009 20:19

a 2nd hand cookbook from the 70s? is she kidding?

kittya · 09/12/2009 20:23

If my sister gave me that market tat I would sling the basket back at her. Shes married to a property tycoon, I think.

kittya · 09/12/2009 20:24

I do love her ring though!

chegirlwithbellson · 09/12/2009 20:27

I know! Picture the scene at Christmas. You know your sister is well known homestyle icon, you know she is minted, you open your gift and ........

Ta dah its some musty old mank 70s cookbook.

Retro my arse.

ScaredOfCows · 09/12/2009 20:27

A bear's head = "such a special person"

WTF!

chegirlwithbellson · 09/12/2009 20:53

The stuff she is making is NOT cheaper!

That stocking was lovely but you can buy ones very like that in Ikea for a couple of quid.

Handmade soap is not expensive to buy (and since when has coconut oil been a household essential?)

Those ribbons were v. expensive too.

It would be fine if it was a craft programme but a budget one?

tulpe · 09/12/2009 20:57

Chegirl - am PMSL at your comments re cookbook

I wonder if all those "artisans" would be as willing to demonstrate, come to house, basically do it all for you etc if you are not Kirstie?

I do love her though. She is very Nigella........very "big sister" "head girl" and therefore very endearing

ScaredOfCows · 09/12/2009 20:57

Like the hamper, but agree with chegirlwithbellson - this stuff is not cheaper than shop bought.

ScaredOfCows · 09/12/2009 20:58

Just bought one of those nifty orange zesters off Ebay for £1.99 - that's cheap!

chegirlwithbellson · 09/12/2009 21:17

Oo scared you could wrap it in £5.00 ribbon and give it to your sister!

stealthsquiggle · 09/12/2009 21:19

Everything she does is ludicrously expensive - I counted about £30+ of ingredients just in the icing of those cakes.

fifitot · 09/12/2009 21:32

It's hilarious. Beyond parody.

Love the way she goes on about saving money and blows loads on a load of ribbon when the pound shop does xmas wrapping gear, well for a pound!

Ridiculous woman.

BTW caustic soda in soap???? Er no thanks.

sazzerbear · 09/12/2009 21:39

I am off to the market tomorrow to find a christmas vessel ha ha! Gum boot socks? WHo calls them gum boots? She's unreal....

chegirlwithbellson · 09/12/2009 21:58

imagine her poor little kiddies - desperately hoping for a Go Go Hamster......

sazzerbear · 09/12/2009 22:14

and instead getting a secondhand teddy!

minko · 09/12/2009 22:20

It's a bleedin' fire hazard all that home made tat in her house... (that's what DH said anyway!)

MaHumbug · 09/12/2009 22:24

I love it.

kittya · 09/12/2009 22:46

I wonde if she gets her staff to make up all these items? I could not be arsed.

isnowsoonenough · 09/12/2009 23:05

I missed it, though possibly I feel better for not seeing a perfect plan come together (as I sure it did).

ScaredOfCows · 09/12/2009 23:08

Hey, don't worry about missing it, you can always check it out on the website, for step by step instructions on how to make expensive crap!

FernieB · 10/12/2009 14:34

PMSL reading this thread. I missed it last night which was a shame as I've no idea what to make people for Christmas now. Will have to buy presents this year instead.

Saw the first one and was impressed by the idea of making my own glass baubles - that's a moneysaver.
