The new cbeebies Winter song...

isn't very good, is it?

Very dreary and depressing filming it in a deserted city business district, I thought the season songs were about being in touch with nature, no?

Maybe it's because they film out of season, and they couldn't find a location with no leaves on the trees? (although that was where they filmed the springtime song, hence the rather desperate CGI daffodils)

Guess they can't film a year in advance in case the line-up of presenters changes.

I hardly noticed the song itself as the setting was so miserable. No big deal, but I'm going to be seeing it 3 times a day or so for 3 months, last years was so much nicer...

rubbish - along with lots of their programmes lately - too much Waybuloo tosh, Bloody Carrie and David's pop shop - which was always intensely irritating but they have now started "passing" things to the viewer through the telly - wtf? And don't get me started on Dirtgirlworld...

funtimewincies · 30/11/2009 19:09

None of the songs have any oomph to them any more. Ds keeps asking for the autumn and summer songs from a couple of years back on the computer (he was a baby at the time, so doesn't remember them) and they're MUCH better.

The new winter one takes drabness to a new level.

And I wish that they would stop using the same 5 people to provide all the character voices on all the programmes !

nickytwotimes · 30/11/2009 19:11

It is dire.

last year's snowman one was great. Really upbeat.

I thought the autumn one was bad....

Tidey · 30/11/2009 19:13

Not as good as Autumn, which was not as good as Summer. They're on a dreary downward trajectory that cleverly matches the weather.

Littlepurpleprincess · 30/11/2009 19:22

Agreed, the sing is crap. I LOVED the summer song, it's still going round in my head now! I think it was DP's favourite song in the WORLD.

FreeGeorgeJackson · 30/11/2009 19:23

oh lordy you lot
they are for kids

funtimewincies · 30/11/2009 20:04

Kids deserve some quality too FreeGeorgeJackson .

PfftTheMagicDragon · 30/11/2009 20:49

Right George, so that just means they can be shit.

Monadami · 01/12/2009 00:20

It only dawned on me today that it was the Winter Song, I just thought they were all just dancing around in the city somewhere. Not at all catchy or memorable, unlike the Summer song and even the Autumn one.

My 5.5 month old baby loved the Autumn song and I'm glad I recorded it on Sky Plus. If he's a bit moody and I put it on, he kicks his legs and has a big cheesy grin. He watched the Winter Song today and didn't seem that impressed. Perhaps it will grow on him before the Spring song arrives.

giraffesCannaeFlingPieces · 01/12/2009 00:27

I haven't seen it. The summer one got stuck in my head - lots.

Kevbo · 02/12/2009 13:51

Sad to say I joined Mumsnet just to vent my frustration at this appalling song. It's just wrong on so many levels. The music is rubbish. The setting is dreary. They have an awful fake snow computer graphics effect which is made worse by the fact that it's actually been filmed on a bright sunny day - since when does snow fall from a clear blue sky? At the start of the song the presenters are stamping their feet as though to get the snow off their boots - but there isn't any snow on their boots - or anywhere at all for that matter! And it just drags on and on. Even the presenters look bored and embarrassed being filmed in it!

Surely at the very least they could have sprayed a little fake snow over the ground and on their jackets or maybe even pulled out all the stops and film it in a snow dome?

I loved dancing with my daughter to the previous cbeebies tunes and she'd litteraly drag me in to the living room to dance with her, but she doesn't even notice this one when it comes on the TV.

I want my TV license money back!

AitchTwoToTangOh · 02/12/2009 13:53

lololol. it's total RUBBISH, i'm so glad you all agree.

scrappydappydoo · 02/12/2009 14:30

Its terrible and so... nothing.
Maybe we might get a new version of the 'happy christmas' song - I love that one and end up singing all over christmas... (and doing the dance )

MummyElk · 02/12/2009 14:35

it's SHIIIITTTTTTTTT
i started another thread about this too (pghead couldn't find this current one, sorry)
utter rubbish. can't bear it. what does it mean "the wind does blow.....high and low..." COULDN'T THEY THINK OF ANY BETTER LYRICS?!!!!

saraya · 03/12/2009 09:15

maybe we could all crash the Cbeebeies website ..you know the forum for adults and let them know how we feel? they really should listen..

MadameOvary · 03/12/2009 10:35

Ha I nearly started a thread about this.
Its beyond cack.
Bloody awful.
As if they used up all their budget on the other three seasons and went "Bugger - what do we do now?"

Georgimama · 03/12/2009 10:38

I'm so glad other people are sad enough to be bothered about this. It's utterly shite. The spring one is brilliant, the summer one was quite good, the autumn one was OK apart from looking like a John Lewis ad from about five years ago and Carrie's terribly arch "it's all about me" smile, but this is kack.

Macdog · 03/12/2009 10:40

CBeebies winter song - for the lucky ones who haven't sseen it yet here

TAFKAtheUrbanFucker · 03/12/2009 10:47

Ha! I knew there'd be a thread on this. It's awful isn't it? Load of toss, completely unbelievable. Why film it in the middle of Canary Wharf, in mid-summer, even my ds thinks it's shit and he's 3!

RockBird · 03/12/2009 14:29

Ugh ugh ugh it's on again. Crappity crap crap. I wouldn't mind if that wasn't the sunniest day we must have had all year!

glasjam · 03/12/2009 22:12

It's hilarious isn't it? The song isn't too bad but the video?!!! How embarassing for all involved. Maybe Cbeebies blew their budget on that fecking annoying cooking "advert" that they've irritated everyone on Mumsnet with. And on that point, why are the BBC "advertising" their services (pointlessly as we've all tried to tell them) on Mumsnet - HOW MUCH DID IT COST US LICENCE PAYERS to pay for that ad on Mumsnet??

Maybe Justine and Carrie charged the BBC so much money that it has impacted on the Winter Song's video budget That would be ironic wouldn't it?!

jennymac · 04/12/2009 08:43

Just caught it briefly the other day and was actually questionning if it was the winter song as it was so poor or just a random number they threw in to fill time!

RockBird · 04/12/2009 08:54

Hopefully it won't be around for too long as they'll have a Christmas dirge song won't they?

MummyTumble · 04/12/2009 12:07

Dreadful...and such a disappointment. Suppose they'll have ahard job to beat the summer song, which was just fab. We all loved that on.

Pull your finger out Cbeebies - must do better in future. They might as well have not bothered.....
