so why, if they were happy with claudia in the back room, did they think that tess couldn't do bruce's job? sexism, i'm guessing. either that or someone at the bbc has noticed that she's HIDEOUS at her job.

I think Bruce might just find he's "done an Arlene" before the next series, time for a pension me thinks.

Sorry, but I love Bruce! Ronnie Corbett was pointless, and Claudia should have been presenting the main show, Tess is more of an interviewer than a main presenter. But why couldn't a woman front the show entirely on her own?

I think it was really insulting to bring Ronnie Corbett on to do a 'turn', as if they had to have a man, any man to legitimise the presenting - urgh.

Tess was great, and I love Claudia. Move over Bruce, but the BBC would never allow 2 women presenters on such a high profile show.

Tess was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than normal, on her own, out front, without Bruce.

Claudia was funny, refreshing and fab in Tess's job.

If they'd left Ronnie Corbett out of it, then it'd have been spot on.

Proof that they got rid of the wrong old person before this series.

DH and I were saying exactly this - Tess managed great out front, Claudia was good at the back room stuff, so why the hell the need to drag on Ronnie Corbett? Two females can't manage to present on their own? Come on BBC - we've already seen you're ageist and by tonight you're showing up you're sexist too.

My theory is that Bruce is crap at reading an autocue, and a bit better at ad libbing, Tess is the reverse. Consequently I thought she did really well tonight, and I don't generally like her. I thought Tess and Claudia, made a good combo, apart from Tess's mad dress obviously.

The bow on Tess's dress was a bit mad, but WTF was Claudia wearing?!

Claudia for front of house imo, or maybe she's just a bit too erm natural and funny? I like Tess Daly but she's far too over the top and no personality coming through.

Yes, Bruce I think would admit autocue is not his forte, his skill is ad libbing and interacting with people. As much as I love Bruce I thought Tess and Claudia were great tonight and no need for Ronnie at all. I think we all know the BBC is sexist - that's what the ageism with Arlene was all about really as much as they denied it!

apparently brucie refuses to wear an earpiece, which is why tess is always interrupting him and nudging his arm, to tell him that they HAVE to move on. i don't warm to her at all but she did a much better job than usual last night.

I love Claudia, think she's a funny and very natural TV presenter. Tess I don't rate, think she is ok as a sidekick but not good enough to anchor a show on her own.

I didn't think Tess was very good, though I like her usually. Ronnie Corbett was dire.
