Anyone agree? I love Malcolm so much, it's just too good to be true.

daftpunk - can't believe you dont understand Peter Capaldi - trust me that is a refined Scots accent!

daftpunk · 23/11/2009 13:03

i'm a Londoner,..i can't understand anyone north of Watford..

and not sure about this refined thing you speak of...
all Scottish people sound like Rab.C.Nesbitt to me....

My DH is from LOndon and is also the same - I end up translating for him like he is hard of hearing in most regions of the UK. I don't get it myself - I wss brought up in Scotland but can understand pretty broad scouse/brum/irish/welsh accents which are completely different to the accent I was brought up listening to. They must put something in the southern water to inhibit understanding...

I loved the description of the trouncing of the minister on Radio5 evening show as 'Bukake at Bedtime'

If it wasn't for MN I wouldn't have got that joke.

nigelslaterfan · 26/11/2009 01:03

It's not the accent I don't think it's the speed Malcolm speaks I just can't catch I think I'm getting slow. I'm always trying to work out the previous insult.

I love that people go up to Peter Capaldi and ask him to tell them to F off. That is so funny. How can people approach the well known like that?

Actually (puffs herself up) I saw Peter Capaldi in Sainsbury's in Finsbury park about 6 years doing his shopping.

It's not that interesting is it?

But did anyone see the programme he presented about Scottish Art? He was so good and is a former Art Student. Hated the way the prog was directed but loved the presentation.

Probably my favourite thing on tv at the moment. The Radio 5 thing, where the spin doctors have a showdown, was just fabulous!

CJCregg · 28/11/2009 22:56

Anyone watching?

'Private Godfrey' - love it.

MavisEnderby · 28/11/2009 23:09

Is it on now/I have to say I haven't seen anything of this series. Is it a modern day "Yes,Minister?" cos I loved that, and I believe it is written by Armando Ianucci, who is a comedy genius IMHO.

Which channel,please?

CJCregg · 28/11/2009 23:12

Sorry, it's just finished. On BBC2 - but it's on iPlayer, so worth catching up with.

CJCregg · 28/11/2009 23:13

'You're wrong, Malcolm - like a sultana in a salad.'

MavisEnderby · 28/11/2009 23:18

Thanks CJ.

afraid watch v little tv atm,its either work or mn or books or a few telly bits, like the natural history stuff,"Life" on beeb 1 or the travel docs with that stary eyed bloke who hangs out with Ewan Mcgregor or the around world in 80 days stuff.am bereft of good comedy.Did you like "Brass Eye"?Another Ianucci creation/collaboration IIRC.Must make time to watch this prog. When is it usually on?

Moros · 28/11/2009 23:21
