We are just in the process or re-watching the fantastic 'West Wing' and would like a new box set to get into. DH and I both enjoy CSI, Lost and watched the first 2 series of 24.
Can anyone suggest a new series for us? Ta

how much bof? we have them off torrents friend of a friend gave them to us but dp would love the whole lot in cold hard dvd form.

badgermonkey · 04/11/2009 21:27

I got DH Mad Men because we too have never found anything to live up to the glory days of the West Wing on DVD. It's pretty good!

BitOfFun · 04/11/2009 21:38

I thought fifty quid inc postage would be reasonable? They seem to go for about seventy on ebay, but I have only checked once this week, so let me know if you think it should be cheaper? I paid £150 for them new last Christmas from HMV when they were on offer.

BitOfFun · 04/11/2009 21:39

I fancy Mad Men actually- I caught a couple and it looked brilliant.

bonfirewithaheartofgold · 04/11/2009 21:42

will mail you bof.

i tried soooo hard to like mad men - had been so excited by the trailers months before it started but in the end it just didn't work for me, for some reason. maybe not funny enough - what i love about the sopranos is how deftly they handle the mix of drama and comedy.

BitOfFun · 04/11/2009 21:49

Oh, I think the Sopranos was completely superb. We must have watched an episode or two a night for about six months!

bonfirewithaheartofgold · 04/11/2009 21:57

bof you have mail from a veryplushcreature

BitOfFun · 04/11/2009 22:01

Gotcha

funtimewincies · 05/11/2009 19:35

Spooks, all the way from its rather gory start !

squeaver · 05/11/2009 19:37

The Wire pisses all over any other series.

tassisssss · 05/11/2009 19:39

Spooks for sure

Arsed · 05/11/2009 19:43

True Blood

BitOfFun · 05/11/2009 19:57

I could never get to grips with the accent in The Wire- I did try

roundwindow · 05/11/2009 19:58

I've really enjoyed 'Big Love', the HBO series about modern day mormon polygamists. so much so that I had to get series 2 as a French import because they still haven't released it here and I couldn't wait

My best ever were The Sopranos and Six Feet Under so you'd probably like it if you were into either of those.

Oh, and if you're into a bit of nineties nostalgia, I recently got really hooked on 'my so called life' which got released on dvd recently. Really really good, much better than I remembered and far more 'quality' than other teen dramas since, imho.

I love box sets!

CJCregg · 05/11/2009 22:20

Ahem, the West Wing is simply the best. Have you seen Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip? Not nearly as good but a useful way to get through the mourning period once WW is over.

Would second whoever said Rome 1&2 - fantastic stuff.

MrsKitty · 05/11/2009 22:34

The Wire - Fantastic. Although give it a couple of episodes before you get really hooked. We're only just working our way through it now - nearly finished S3. S2 has been my favourite so far - found alot more humour in it than in the other seasons I've seen.

squeaver · 06/11/2009 14:55

Subtitles, Bof, subtitles!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/11/2009 14:53

sitc and prison break are fab

MrsJamin · 07/11/2009 15:12

Brothers and Sisters, just love it. Not as flashy as your other american series, but doesn't need a fake 'situation' to set the context - it's just a big complex family.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/11/2009 15:23

i forget about B&S - that was fab as well

Alibobster · 07/11/2009 23:37

ER or Gray's Anatomy
