I'm not as keen on the new look X factor, especially with the backing music. Not sure I like it infront of an audience either as there seems to be more time focusing on the audience (as well as crowds of contestants, judges, etc) and less time on the actual singing. In the first 30 mins of the programem there were only 5 people shown actually singing. Its all sweeping crowd shots.

Did you notice, when Duane sang 'Ain't no mountain high enough' there was no backing music. Proof that it is sooooo staged.

My girl crush on Cheryl has not faded. Love how she is second in the billing now-Louis and Dannii must HATE her.

Don't like the new format at all- should not have backing tracks- it's much easier to keep in tune and without really sorts the sheep from the goats

It's too like BGT. Anyone notice Simon hitting the desk a few times- think he was pining for the big red X button!

No - don't like the audience thing either.

When they're properly 'on stage' it makes it much harder to suspend disbelief about it being the first time Simon et al have ever seen the contestants.

At least when they are in some suite in the Marriot it makes the 'processing all-comers straight from the queue outside' vibe vaguely realistic.

Dunno about star being born. He quite obviously knew what he was doing. I expect he has been doing it for some time.
