....and it was fab

Tom Hardy was fantastic as Heathcliff, as was the girl who plays Cathy. I could sit and watch it all again today.

I lose interest in the book- but this newer (ITV I think adaptation) flows really well and really keeps you hooked.

I watched this yesterdyaon ITV player, I've struggled to read the book, and given up twice now but I might have another stab at it as I thought it was a pretty good story.

I am MOST perplexed that Heathcliffe is seen as some romantic hero (yes there was a thread about this the other day that I have now read).

What a giant arse of a man. I'm sorry but no amount of full plumptious lips and brooding looks across the moors could make him even remotely attractive to me.

Mr Hardy was jolly good at being a complete prick though.

ooh nice link, i think he needs a bit of hair to balance out his pout.

bet he'll age very nicely. (argh must stop perving)

pellmell · 02/09/2009 20:13

He warmed me up during a wet weekend in a caravan in the lake district. I loved it!!!

vjg13 · 02/09/2009 20:41

I liked him in the take but I thought his accent was all over the place, really strong some of the time and then gone!

southeastastra · 02/09/2009 20:42

i did think his accent was a bit steve cooganey

OrmIrian · 02/09/2009 20:49

Yes SEA! It was pure Alan Partridge at one point. When Kathy had run away onto the moors and Edgar and his posse were looking for her. Heathcliff loomed up and shouted 'SHe's here!' I honestly thought he was going to say 'Aha!' Very unfortunate

vjg13 · 02/09/2009 21:03

Yes, he was a bit Steve Coogan!!

southeastastra · 02/09/2009 21:05

sheepgomeep · 03/09/2009 10:50

Tom Hardy was very believable as Heathcliffe and gorgeous! He is a very good actor.

I love Bronte fiction and I thought this was a very good adaptation

stressed2007 · 03/09/2009 21:50

finished watching it and blubbed for about 30 mins. It was such a fine production. But then I do adore Mr Hardy
