was shumacher drafted in as the the stig for one night only??

Does anyone remember the Africa challenge where the 3 hosts drove their cars across various African countries? The Stig made a brief appearance; he was wearing his helmet of course and boots but then he only wore a loin cloth type thing. Anyway, The Stigs skin colour was a lovely black colour--think Lewis Hamillton and you're there.

I agree with people who say its more likely a variety of non-famous professional drivers.

scrappy DS (2) was given an "I am the Stig" T-shirt for Christmas by DH's brother. Gets great comments from blokes whenever he wears it; ladies (particularly those over 50 who run the playgroups he goes to) have no idea what it's all about!

nope - I doubt it very much,

1. The Stig drives a variety of different vehicles indicating someone with an all around skill - such as a stunt driver has has been supposed

1. There was a thing a few years back with F1 drivers driving a load of different vehicles and most of them were pretty rubbish at anything that wasn't a "car" proper

Schumacher Stig thing was a really good gag but of course it's not him (I guess).

Never mind that, anyhow, what about that fantastic race with the new steam engine? Wow.

Schumacher is not the stig, it is a rally car driver called Ben collins. Schumacher was the stig for the day to drive the ferrarri as it was his own car and ferrarri or himself wouldn't let anyone else drive it.
Trust me I have to live a breathe Top Gear for the next 7 weeks

ermm Ben Collins isn't a rally driver, he did F3 (and few junior F stuff) NASCAR, GT etc, and is also a professional stunt driver.

Whoops that shows how much I listen to DH ;) I just say thats nice whenever he starts about cars etc!

Dh's office overlooks the track where they film Top Gear, and watching is one of the perks of the job . SO I can catagorically state:

1. There is more than one Stig - they're different shapes.

1. The Stig doesn't usually talk in a German accent - mostly English, once Australian

1. The Stig was once called 'Mark' over the radio (Mark Webber is the best guess)

4.Schumachers suit was too white to be the Stig (bloke reason - I would like to point out that new clothes/washing machines are available )

oooooh that's interesting, funny. Can't dh ever sneak out of the office for some, you know, fresh air and casually wander over to the Top Gear track just as the Stig is walking from his car or something...?

The Stig is a professional test driver, not MS (you may be surprised to discover).
The first one was sacked because he wanted to be a face on the programme and make a name for himself and the rest of 'the talent' weren't having any of it.
FWIW the day RH crashed his car you could hear the rubbing together of hands with glee from the TG offices for miles around.

womma - the serious accident RH was involved in???? TG offices were happy about that

I'm shocked!!!

They weren't happy about it (although he wasn't that popular with the production team) but they loved all the publicity it gave the 'TG brand'
