Beautiful cinematography and music. Clint is good too.

A Fistful of Dollars (1964)
For a Few Dollars More (1965)
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966)

Not much dialogue and the sound is dodgy but the camera angles, the massive sky, the music.

Liked him in Dirty Harry BUT Paint Your Wagon (he was a good singer) and Play Misty for Me were wonderful too.

must admit, I LOVE the good, the bad and the ugly

once went out with a totally Clint obsessed boyfriend (I love films so it wasn't too much out of my comfort zone ) and must have watched Unforgiven about 10 times lol

Love them, some of my fave films, although won't be watching tonight. But you're so right, the camera angles, the close ups, and Ennio Morricone's music particularly wonderful.

And although it doesn't have Clint, Once Upon a Time in the West is epic also... longer with maybe even fewer words!

ah sorry to hear you've had a tough time of it. Hope things are on the up now.

Yes, we are ok. Both working full time now which is challenging more on the never see each other front, let alone football . I don't think I actually went to one live game last year (though dh and ds took full use of the season tickets!) but it gets to the weekend and I'd rather spend time with the children .

I am more fascinated by what Sir A is going to do with all his loot! Extraordinary sum of money. We are all still gloomy about Ancelotti and his fondness and known ability for managing OAPs. I actually dread who he is going to buy!

That does sound busy! Only went to one game myself as we moved out of london (that's the tough year bit), but on the football front I picked a good year to give up my ticket!

I know... all that money for Sir A. Brilliant business and they won't miss ronaldo I'm sure. Who's going to get ribery I wonder? My kind of player...

didn't realise you had moved out of London...miles and miles away or commutable distance? It is always a chore, moving. It's one of those most stressful things (along with death, marriage, divorce I think!) and it's always underestimated I reckon!

Re Ribery, I suspect Roman will want to make one big name signing and who better in many ways. Though the lure of Man U might be too much for him. It's a shame because I bet he would have wanted to go to Arsenal, given Wenger's French connections, but I doubt you will be spending those sort of sums.

We missed the chance of getting ribery when he opted to go to bayern. I was gutted then, now I know we don't stand a chance this time round!

yes, it's very hard. Because with children comes decisions about schools and it all gets a bit complicated. We are stuck in an incredibly small house (2 up, 2 down with no garden but a small yard) because we have, mysteriously (because it wasn't planned!), found ourselves in the catchment area for a good secondary school. It was OKish when we moved here but it's made great progress and now moving seems ridiculous given the state of most secondary schools in London. Also, tbh, we can't afford a bigger house in this area now, we'd have to move to another part of London to get any more space so we need to make a decision quite soon. Is never easy.

What has happened with your move?

Guus was just incredible. Never a truer gentleman tbh. I just think he was a great manager and a nice bloke. He is one of the better managers we have ever seen I reckon. Very few can achieve the results he has over his career (not just looking at chelsea but other clubs, abroad). Just sad we couldn't keep him but I do harbour hopes for him returning at some stage. He's obviously great mates with Roman!

And what about Arsene? I thought, at one stage, they might be considering getting rid of him.

Sorry rudely didn't come back! I realise this thread now has nothing to do with Clint either, but thought i should reply.

Can understand your feelings about being in good 2ndary catchment - really huge issue in london. I guess that's one reason we moved, dd1 was starting primary, good ones where we were but not good 2ndaries, but in upgrading from a flat to a house we would have had to move a long way out in london.

So instead we took the plunge to try being an hour-ish out of london, nearer ailing family members too... but in short, DP and I just aren't convinced it was a good move, not sure we can settle somewhere small. Only renting now but our next move is to buy, but the pressure is on to make a decision that is right for everyone this time...

Anyway, time will tell and our problems are small potatoes really, I'm very aware of that.

we did a similar thing

we were in zone 2 london - loved it and actually, had some pretty decent schools but really wanted a house

we compromised and moved to zone 6 (though the close part of zone 6 so we are still fairly close, v good commuter links) and have excellent schools, a TINY house but lovely parks and the river nearby

I think loads of people would hate it. I heard someone describe it as not quite in (london) and not quite out. We could move further out and get a fast commuter train (one of the downsides is we are still on london transport so nothing is quick) but then we would be truly out of London and neither of us want that.

Our jobs and social lives are v tied to here so this is our compromise really and we are happy with it. Would LOVE a bigger place but will think about that once kids in secondary school I think and can get themselves around.

It is such a hard decision to make but a lot depends on how much you love london I think.
