They might if the timeline was tweaked:

Hey, yoof, do an audition where you pretend you're being attacked by zombies...

Lights, camera, action.

(film all this, build computer game around warehouse layout).

Then stick yoof infront of machine and do a quick hypnotise asleep / awake thingy.

But when it comes down to it, let's face it, there is no way on earth in the litigious society that we live in that Derren Gitface would have done that, no way. Esp when being broadcast on tv. So he is making it up. I find that silly.
