Diversity vs Flawless: The Great Debate Of Our Time

BanjosFanjo · 25/05/2009 14:09

As we are having an orgy of BGT threads, I thought I would bring up this topic as it is obviously of crucial national importance...

Flawless are tighter and more technically adept, IMO, but Diversity have the edge for their creativity and humour...and for their very handsome Ashley Banjo

Opinions please? And if anyone wants to put some links up so we can directly compare totty in a deeply inappropriate way their talents, it would be most welcome!

I am ROARING at mini Sideshow Bob

Thread host here- can't be arsed changing back...

LupusinaLlamasuit · 25/05/2009 23:03

Now now Molesworth, don't patronise me.

AitchTwoOh · 25/05/2009 23:05

the name mrsashleybanjo already in use, apparently.

i do think flawless are shit hot actually. although give me tv director's head on a platter and i'll spit on it, cos they were filmed REALLY badly i thought.

mrsmaidamess · 25/05/2009 23:06

Yes the editing is shocking on that programme. I do not want to see Amanda's reaction to Ashley spinning on his gorgeous head...I want to SEE him doing it.

(Preferably with his shirt off)

Molesworth · 25/05/2009 23:07

No, it really was funny, honest

Aitch I agree - the constant cutting away to show Holden's face or the crowd is SO annoying when the act is only on stage for about 2 minutes grrrr

notnowbernard · 25/05/2009 23:07

Yes, why were we getting shots of the AUDIENCE?!

LupusinaLlamasuit · 25/05/2009 23:12

I must admit I did also dampen a little when Faces of Disco ripped their shirts off last night. But Ashley sets off much less GayDar somehow.

MrsASHLEYBanjo · 25/05/2009 23:14

You can all back out of the Banjo race, thank you very much.

LupusinaLlamasuit · 25/05/2009 23:17

I just know I'm gonna be older than his mother (their manager and dance school owner?)

muggglewump · 25/05/2009 23:28

The taller one from Faces of Disco looks like someone I shagged knew a few years ago.

In this most important debate though, I'm backing Diversity as I didn't like the tops Flawless were wearing.

I had to come up with some kind of choosing criteria, and they just failed on that point.

muggglewump · 25/05/2009 23:32

Although, if all of Flawless were to have a wardrobe malfunction, then they'd be back in the game
And I can't say that about Diversity because of the two young ones.
Hmmmm, Flawless need to work on them all being legal enough to appear naked topless.

Molesworth · 25/05/2009 23:35

Good thinking MW. Flawless with no tops on dancing to James Brown in the final please.

muggglewump · 25/05/2009 23:38

Gosh yes.
Now that Id be damp at think would make good TV.

notnowbernard · 26/05/2009 10:59

I've just watched on YouTube both the auditions and semi-final performances of both acts

I really cannot decide between them. At all.

But, I think Flawless gave a better audition and Diversity a better semi-final. Nothing in it really, though, for me

midnightexpress · 26/05/2009 11:04

Diversity. They were witty, as well as excellent dancers. And I liked their range of people/ages and so on - I think it's more in tune with the spirit of the thing.

Is he really called Ashley Banjo?

As an aside, I am loving how inappropriately WHITE Simon Cowell's teeth are. You don't notice in the US shows where they all have perfect teeth, but next to us shabby old Brits he's just so gleamy. It reminds me of that episode of Friends.

notnowbernard · 26/05/2009 11:07

Agree re white teeth

I also think he's had his face done (looking pillow-faceish) DP said he looks like he's just had all his wisdoms extracted

I do agree with you about the age-range thing with Diversity. But Flawless are, well, flawless, aren't they?

Nancy66 · 26/05/2009 11:52

It looked to me as though Flawless had 'softened' their style a bit in order to compete with Diversity, which I think is a mistake.

trixymalixy · 26/05/2009 11:57

I would have said Flawless were better before their semi-final last night, but they were a bit disappointing IMO, not as good as their audition.

Diversity were much more innovative in their semi-final.

TheEarthIsFlat · 26/05/2009 12:25

Just had a look at Flawless on Youtube as I'd missed them before. Think they're technically brilliant (loved the falling over thing). But I think Diversity are amazing & that their dances mean something. The fact they're all different sizes might make them look a bit less tidy. Also, think Flawless may have been slightly influenced by Diversity when devising their semi-final act.

Definitely Diversity for me because of the originality!

AitchTwoOh · 26/05/2009 12:35

i was ribbed mercilessly for describing that falling over thing as that falling over thing. apparently this means we are not down with the kids. innit yo?

TheEarthIsFlat · 26/05/2009 12:52

Apparently, the fact that I don't think I'm trendy means I am trendy (so says Marge Simpson, who knows about these things ). Am patiently waiting for my 6yo to get good enough at technical things to help me with my laptop.

MARGOsBeenDrinkingTea · 26/05/2009 12:56

I've just watched them both.

Flawless are more clinical and Diversity are more likeable.

hmm, I don't think I'd be able to decide between them.

notnowbernard · 26/05/2009 12:58

I'm with you Margo

Will have to see what they both do in the final

gagamama · 26/05/2009 14:08

I clicked on this thinking it was going to be a discussion about whether society's obsession with conforming to an image of 'flawless' beauty would eventually win out to diversity, or vice-versa.

mrsmaidamess · 26/05/2009 14:09

No, it's far more important than than. It's all about dishy black dancers.
