Oh my God those Verrucas!!!

How how how can any mother not have got that poor little girl some treatment earlier????

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 22/04/2009 20:54

the little girl with the verrucas ended up being diagnosed with a serious immune deficiency

no wonder they got so bad

CarGirl · 22/04/2009 20:55

it's just the lack of refferal sooner it's shocking, I wonder if she had a hideous GP who fobbed them off?

AnyFucker · 22/04/2009 20:59

what a lovely little girl

her parents are remarkably calm

bone marrow transplant, proper scary stuff!

saggyhairyarse · 22/04/2009 22:29

I can only think that once her immune system didn't fight off the verucca virus, they spread and multiplied very quickly.

Also, my DDs scalp is the same as the psoriasis scalp. We have been told it is cradle cap! No wodner nothing is bloody helping! And, yes, underneath the skin is raw and her hair comes out in patches (whe people like my Mum start picking at it).

I am going to be making Drs appointment!!!!

Juxal · 22/04/2009 22:40

Missed the programme.

What do you do with verrucas though? DD has had one for months and months, and we've tried all the treatments, including the horrible freezing one and nothing has worked so far.

Our doc said they don't treat verrucas any more but just wait for them to go away - which could take up to 2 years!

ErnestTheBavarian · 23/04/2009 07:55

we got a sheet of sticky stuff from the doctors for our ds's verucca. He only had 2 but they were painful to walk on, no way would I leave him hobbling in agony for up to 2 years. Anyway, you cut a piece off the strip and stick on the verucca. Spposed to leave on for 2 weeks, Ours dropped of after a day (swaety feet ). After 2 attempts I gave up (bad mummy) but then a week later it dies and he picked it off (boak). If it's causeing pain I'd go back. Like I said, ds only had a teeny one on a toe and a biggish one on his heel, but the one on his heel really hurt and putting on shoes hurt him.

As or that girl on the programme, I have never seen anything like it. Poor child must've been in a of of pain. I also was shocked the parents let it get so bad, but my God, going from veruccas to bone marrow transplant and soending the best part of a year in hpspital. Horrendous.

tegan · 23/04/2009 08:15

I am shocked and disgusted by the parents of that poor child. I got the impression that because they had 4 other children they hadn't really bothered to get it sorted and then it was too out of control to be dealt with. Luckily because of these they now know of the underline problem and she will be having a bone marrow transplant, which equally is extremely painful

candyfluff · 23/04/2009 09:22

this really upset me as to why the parents didnt do something sooner ,theres no way i would let a child of mine get like that.
this is the same problem a man on the extraordinary people programme on channel 5 had ,dede from indonesia his got so bad his hands and feet looked like tree trunks

hifi · 23/04/2009 09:57

i was really confused as to why the parents hadnt taken things further, they seemed quite sensible.

PolkSaladLucie · 23/04/2009 10:59

They did say that they'd tried other stuff and been fobbed off by their GP, though...

I couldn't get over the arse lady though - too embarrassed to see her doctor, but she flashes her herself to a million + viewers...

inscotland · 23/04/2009 12:37

The mum of Charlotte did say they had tried different things and different GP's. Right at the start. She was fobbed off though. Poor child is now to spend the best part of a year in hospital.

Juxal · 23/04/2009 12:41

Thanks ErnesttheBavarian. DD's was painful but isn't anymore. I've got them from her now, one hurts but the others don't. Guess we'll just wait for them to go on their own.

I was hoping the prog would have given some helpful tips about htem, but I watched it later and could see why they didn't get around to it. Poor poor child. I think I would have been to every doctor in the world before dd's got anywhere near that bad.

PolkSaladLucie · 24/04/2009 06:34

Juxal - what about the stuff she soaked her foot in? It seemed to improve things - didn't hear what it's called as was in kitchen cooking, but somone else may have...

ShannaraTiger · 24/04/2009 06:51

PolkSaladLucie I think it was formaldehyde.

Juxal · 24/04/2009 13:03

Don't think I'd want to stick her in formaldehyde! Her verucca isn't that bad, it's just been there for so long.

jennie65 · 07/04/2010 23:12

did you people not actually listen to the show at all. even after the hospital removed the veruccas they were coming back almost as bad within days. the girl had an immune problem and the veruuca virus was particularly virrilant. The question should be why had the families own GP not sent them for further tests when the family had been to see him several times.
