A proper funny film (as opposed to the laugh famine that was The Wedding Crashers) if anyone fancies a laugh.

I agree dietstartstomorrow.

Little Miss Sunshine is not a laugh out loud comedy and should not be hyped as one. In that sense I appreciate people not thinking it's as good as the "hype"

Haven't seen Slumdog so can't comment (haven't been to the cinema since I was pregnant with dd - she's 6 months)

I really miss that as DP and me are movie obsessives and our entire relationship began and blossomed through our mutual love of all things cineamatic

We make do with the vision box and films on telly. Borat is tonight's scheduled viewing

Yes the hype, that's what ruins films . I can't think of a film in the last 5 years that was reviewed as being 'hilarious',and was, except the animation films .

Interesting, my memory was jogged on seeing that Little Miss Sunshine was on (I enjoyed it first time round, actually) - the Independent gave away a free CD a year or so ago of an Argentinian film called 'Familia Rodante', which I haven't watched yet but will do now, as I'm very curious after reading the blurb! I quote:

'The film begins in Buenos Aires with the 84th birthday celebrations of Grandma Emilia, who tells her stunned family that she's been invited to be matron of honour at her niece's wedding...and expects them to accompany her on the 1,000 kilometre trip. One heavy dose of emotional blackmail later, 13 members across 4 generations cram into a ramshackle old camper-van and set off on the epic journey'.

The cover shows, guess what? People amusingly pushing an old camper-van to get it started.

'Little Miss Sunshine' - made 2006.
'Familia Rodante' - made 2004.

Hmmmm! Change a few details and hoorah! Award-winning 'original' comedy
