We never bothered watching it when it was on TV but hired the DVDs at the beginning of the year (and then bought them )

OMG, it is SO funny, definitely the best comedy on TV at the moment IMHO. Can't wait for the next series.

Uncle Bryn is my favorite

DaisyMooSteiner · 17/03/2009 22:16

I love Bryn too. Didn't realise he was touring, but it looks like everywhere is sold out

Kyles - we never know. It is like Great Aunt Ada Doom's 'Something nasty in the woodshed' - always referred to, never explained.

also they are the Shipmans and the Wests...another undertone of menace

MargaretMountford · 24/03/2009 15:53

and the other friends are called the Sutcliffes!!

I really liked the first series, but didn't enjoy the second. Smithy is so obnoxious and needy that it was hard to bear. Nessa isn't very realistic (is she?). Rob Brydon's very good in it. I also didn't think much of the Christmas special.

Saltire · 24/03/2009 17:42

I always thought it was meant to be a "pisstake" of Welsh people,so Nessa isn't mean to be realistic(is she?) the Welsh having a laugh at themselves. A bit like Glaswegians with River Shitty City.

Oh wait, River Shitty City's a drama, I forgot, not a comedy

DaisyMooSteiner · 24/03/2009 21:49

I don't think it's supposed to be watched as a documentary

I've tried to watch it twice, and wandered off bored on both occasions.

And I agree with Habbibu on the subject of James Corden - he strikes me as an annoying, arrogant little git.

Watched one series (2nd one?) Didn't think it funny enough to watch any more.
