Where *IS* 'Brum' filmed?

I know, I know I'm probably very sad, but whenever the little yellow car is on I spend the whole programme looking for clues as to where it's filmed! Is it really Brum? or is that simply the sound he makes? Wherever it is the shops are never crowded and the whole place looks lovely!

Somebody please put me out of my misery!

JulieF · 05/04/2005 22:59

"of a" now thats a phrase I've not heard for a while..

I love place spotting in Brum. I used to work in Centenary Square

wordsmith · 05/04/2005 23:03

I think Brum is a programme dreamed up by the Brindleyplace marketing team to promote the area. It's mainly in the piazza there, plus outside the council house near the 'floozie in the jacuzzi'.

Tellytubbyland is near Stratford upon Avon, by the way. That's where Rosie and Jim live too.

I love Bourton on the water aswell

daddycoll, surely if you want to eat out in Brum, it has to be a balti?? doesnt matter where you travel in the world, all the balti's are ran by people from birmingham, the chef even comes out to talk to you and you feel like royalty

Fio2 · 06/04/2005 07:54

what is wrong with calling a roundabout "an island?"

thing i noticed since moving to kent is, if you ask for a cob it totally confuses people and well, a "roll" means something totally different where I come from

jampots · 06/04/2005 10:24

and an "outdoor" - thats apparently a Brum thing.

Blackduck · 06/04/2005 10:58

re eating out in Brum - check out here

Places near the Bullring - not many - Wagamama's, or the chinese quarter. Three course sitdown jobs - mailbox, St Paul's Sq or Edgbaston...

i love watching Brum! (no! not for a glimpse of the 'large' man in overalls!) but for just spotting bits of birmingham! last week we were in ireland (holiday) watching it and it made me quite homesick!!!

yep! filmed all by brindley place and the floozie! though todays... or was it yesterday...? it was at birmingham university... i would love to find out when they are filming as i could take dd to go and watch!... the funniest bit is during the rather irritating dancing bit... where there are those HUGE coloured baubles... it looks like a rather pleasant spot but it's a sort of horible noisy walkway with loads of cars zooming overhead... not very nice!!!

BigGayDad · 14/04/2005 23:38

I understand they are currently filming a late night version of Brum which will take in Balsall Heath and certain areas on the East of the City. Brum has to do more than just catch the bloke who pinched the garden gnome then!!

DaddyCool · 15/04/2005 10:44

sounds like Brum will have to aquire new skills. a machine gun mounted on the bonnet and rocket launchers bolted to each of his fenders should help.

Marina · 15/04/2005 10:53

Some of it's on the campus (saw Old Joe in background) and some of it is on the steps outside the City Library.
I never puked in the canal when I was a student Cod [blatant liar emoticon].
I watch Brum mainly for the astonishing dancing and the locations...it's one of the few pre-school programmes that ds still loves although there is a certain amount of scoffing now...

cellogirl · 16/04/2005 09:18

I watch it too to catch some of Birmingham, as thats where I hail from originally. The ice cream man who I used to live next door to was in it once. Mr Mimmo. What a claim to fame eh? I also watch Doctors because its filmed in Bham, but have unfortunately got sadly addicted to it, and watch it everyday. None of the can do a proper Brummie accent thogh.

Anyone think we should get Nutty's dad in his NYPD Police car or NY taxi onto the show? Then we'd all know someone on it

tiredemma · 16/04/2005 20:15

nuttys dad lives right by me, every-time i walk round to my best mates house, nuttys dad is on his drive cleaning the "now famous" cars. may give him a shout one day.
